4. Requirements for Participation
This festival is open to people from both the film industry and the dance world: dancers,
choreographers, artists, and audiences interested in audiovisuals and/or dance in general,
independent of their age, experience level, or studies.

Registration for the Festival's video dance contest is entirely free! It can be submitted
individually or as a group (with all artists’ permission).

Participation in the Festival implies the acceptance of all the Rules and Regulations.

Lens Dans encourages all peoples to apply- we strongly celebrate and support minorities in
the arts field and create a safe and inclusive space for Womxn, LGBTQIA+, all nationalities,
ethnicities, and more to contribute their works.

5. Proposal Requirements
Proposals submitted to the Festival must meet the requirements mentioned in section
8-Documentation to be provided.

5.1 VIDEO DANCE CONTEST:
Lens Dans Festival reserves the right to disqualify any work that is not considered video
dance, understanding “video dance” as an artistic scope where the interaction of dance and
video is the basis of the work. Video Dance focuses on body and visual choreography to tell
a story.

Trailers, unfinished projects, recordings of performances and/or “work in progress”
will not be accepted. We are looking for video dance projects that are already audiovisual
works in their own right and are fully completed.
This point is an indispensable condition for
the evaluation of the project by the Jury. In the event of non-compliance with this condition,
the applications submitted will not be valid.
Each project can be presented in one of the three following categories:

-Artistic video dance
-Socially Involved video dance*
-Documentary of a video dance or dance project
* We understand for a “socially involved” project that has a deep
work/sensibility/introspection to one of our contemporary social topics that resonate within
our society. Within this category the dance video is focused on the topic itself instead of the
artistic quality.

Each video dance submitted must follow the following requirements:

● Duration of the piece: Minimum 1 minute to Maximum of 15 minutes.

● Music Copyright: Musical pieces can be created specifically for the work or not, but
in all cases, the author of the video dance declares that they hold all the necessary
rights to show the public projection of the piece. *Otherwise, the videos will not be
accepted and will be directly disqualified

● Video format: h264, mp4, or .mov formats are accepted.

● If the piece contains text or spoken word, the piece must have English subtitles.

● The video dance submissions for the festival may have previously been shown on
social media and other platforms or festivals but did
not receive an award.

● Dance Videos that were sent in the first edition and made it through preselection
can not be submitted for the second edition.

● Credits for the project must be included.

5.2 LIVE PERFORMANCES CONTEST:
We understand for a Live Performance a piece that can contain different performing
arts (not necessarily only dance), but it must show the interaction of a video
during or at some point in the performance such as a visual projections, with another
screen as a support, and/or with other ideas.
Each dance project submitted must follow the following requirements:

● Duration of the piece: From 8 to 15 min
● Music Copyright: Musical pieces can be created specifically for the work but are not
required. In all cases, the author of the video dance must declare that they hold all
the necessary rights to carry on with the public projection of the piece.

*Otherwise, the videos will not be accepted and will be directly disqualified

● If the piece contains text or spoken word, the piece must have an English translation
or translator.
