Who is Joaquín?

Joaquín has been an FEI Driving Judge since 2009 and promoted to the highest level (Level 4) in 2014. He has been serving as a Driving Judges course director since 2016, helping to educate Driving Judges according to our sport's values and to the best of my knowledge I have gathered throughout my career. He is also active as an FEI Level 4 Technical Delegate, Level 3 Course Designer and Level 3 Steward in Driving sport. As well as FEI Level 2 Judge and Steward in Jumping and Level 3 Steward in Dressage and Endurance.

Furthermore, Mr Medina has been member of various Technical Committees within the Spanish Equestrian Federation and President of the Regional Federation of Andalusia for 12 years. In addition, he has been fortunate to be appointed as Official at more than ten FEI Championships.

Throughout his career, he has officiated at nearly 150 FEI Driving events from the lowest to the highest levels all over the world. He is experienced the challenges our discipline faces, as well as the uniqueness and beauty it brings to the world of Equestrian sports. He has dedicated his professional life to applying and interpreting laws and regulations as a practicing attorney since 1992.

His work experience and equestrian background have given him the knowledge and skills that have enabled him to succeed as an Official in the Driving sport on the highest levels.

For more than 20 years Joaquín has been involved in the Driving sport nationally and internationally. Having held positions as FEI Official, Organizer, and two times member of the FEI Driving Technical Committee, from 2014-2018 (Deputy Chair in 2018); recently chosen for the position again from 2022 to 2026.

His conciliatory skills, experience, dedication, and forward thinking make him the right candidate for the position of Chairman. We are confident that working together with an open mind, without partiality, the Driving Community can achieve the common goals of the sport. To help put the sport on the right track and develop further to meet all expectations of Organisers, Drivers and Officials, as well as the public and preserve our beloved sport in the years to come.

We hope you can support him with your vote for the new Chairman of the FEI Driving Committee at the General Assembly in order to let him serve the sport we all love with the best of his knowledge and dedication.

Sincerely,

Venancio García Ovies
Secretary General
Real Federación Hípica Española
