Call for Entries

Theme

“The Sea: Emotions without boundaries”

The sea is an element without space nor time which gives rise to dreams and adventures, tales and legends. A means for moving people, goods, ideas. We endeavour to promote this natural element considering all its facets from a social, ecological, historical, artistical and aesthetical point of view.

Requirements

The contest is open to all authors, producers, etc., regardless of age, gender or nationality. The contest will be subdivided into three categories:
1. Short films
2. Documentaries
3. Panorama Campania (section reserved to movies and audiovisual works produced in Campania by authors under 30, with narrative, documentary or experimental content.

All works in all categories should reflect the contest’s theme. Works of any type and language (but subtitled in Italian) shall be accepted, provided that they were produced after January 1, 2016. The works shall meet the following criteria:
• the short movies will have a maximum duration of 20 minutes;
• the documentaries will have a minimum duration of 20 minutes.
Each author can submit up to three works. The Selection Committee of the Procida Film Festival 2018 will select the works participating to the Procida Film Festival among all received works. The selected works will be shown during the Festival.

How to participate

Each author will fill out an application form which must be signed and sent as .pdf-file by e-mail. Sending the application form implies the acceptance of these Rules.

All shipping costs shall be borne by the participants. Registration is free.
Awards
The Jury will select the works participating in the Festival which will take place from XX to XX June, 2018 on island of Procida. The authors/producers of the selected works will be notified by e-mail.

The Jury shall be formed by prominent figures of the movie and cultural world. The Jury will award the following prizes:
• Fabrizio Borgogna Award to the best short film
• Corricella Award to the best documentary
• Alessandro Selvaggio Award for the Panorama Campania category

The Jury, at its sole discretion, may award special prizes.

The event organizer will provide winners the opportunity to stay on the Island of Procida in order to shoot a short movie or a documentary set on the island.

Form and conditions of the stay will be decided by the event organizer.

Travel expenses shall be borne by the participants.

Key Deadlines

The deadline for submission of works is not later than April 15th, 2018.

The nominations for each category will be published by June 1st, 2018 on the Festival’s web channels.

The winners of each category will be communicated during the Procida Film Festival.

The program of the Procida Film Festival will be published on the website www.procidafilmfestival.it.

All changes to the program will be communicated through the web channels of the Procida Film Festival.


General Rules

Each author is responsible for the content of his/her works and declares to be owner of all copyrights (direct and indirect) on the work itself.

The registration and acceptance of these rules imply the authorization to:
• Publicly show the submitted works during to the Procida Film Festival;
• Store the submitted works in the video archive of the Procida Film Festival;
• Show the submitted works in the future, with the consent of the author and/or producers, for educational, social and cultural purposes;
• Use the submitted works for marketing activities as well as to publish their data on the website www.procidafilmfestival.it and to disseminate them to the press for promotional purposes.

Copies will not be returned and will become part of the video archive of the Procida Film Festival.

The authors and/or producers of the submitted works authorize the screening and dissemination (TV, online) of short sequences of the event for promotional purposes (up to 2 minutes for any work submitted to the Festival).

All the works submitted (either selected or not) shall not be copied or reproduced. They shall be shown only and exclusively in the official venues of the event.

The producers and the distributors of all winning works are invited to make an HD-copy to be kept in the archive of the Procida Film Festival. Any commercial use is excluded.
As per unequivocal commitment of the participants, any promotional activities conducted after that the Procida Film Festival has announced its program shall state the participation in the Procida Film Festival within the relevant category and shall show the PFF official logo, as supplied by the organization. The winning works shall also mention the received award according to the official graphics supplied by the organization.

The authors and/or other members of the crew nominated for the competition will be invited to accompany their works to the Procida Film Festival. Travel expenses shall be borne by the participants. Food and accomodation costs shall be agreed upon with the organization.

According to the Italian Legislative Decree Nr. 196/2003 regarding the use of personal data, the participants’ personal data will be used in full compliance with the law and will not be disseminated or disclosed to third parties. By communicating your e-mail address, you provide the consent to use your data for the sole purpose of receiving information related to the Procida Film Festival and its initiatives.

These Rules may be subject to additions and/or modifications in order to guarantee the success of the event.
