Festival start: 11 November 2021      Festival end: 14 November 2021

Over seven years Oftálmica has positioned itself as one of the most important film shows of the state and even one of the most outstanding in the southeastern region of the country. The show´s purpose is to generate a promotion, exhibition space and a dialogue between the public and the filmakers, contributing to the cultural development of the city and state.

For this reason all the national and foreign audiovisual producers are invited to participate in this call for the seventh international independent film exhibition OFTÁLMICA 2020, to be held in Xlapa, Veracruz, México.

Films produced after january 2018

Participants will be able to register from one to 3 short films.

The theme of this year is INVISIBLE VIOLENCE, understood as the practices that are assumed normal but that in the end promote some type of violence such as: discrimination, forced migration, harassment, gender violence, abuse of power, sexism, classism, etc

All the films should be sent in their original language, in case of films in languages other than Spanish, they should include Spanish language subtitles. (Films in Spanish may include english subtitles, but it’s not mandatory).

Short films that do not meet the requirements requested will not be taken into account by the selection committee.

The selection committee is made up of audiovisual creators, cultural managers and members of the OFTÁLMICA team.

The results of the selection will be announced during the month of october through our official accounts and selected participants will receive a confirmation email.

All selected materials will be part of the project file and may be displayed in various audiovisual exhibitions in Mexico and the world, always respecting the copyright.

When registering their project all the filmmakers assume to have the rights of authorship of the presented work.
