RULES AND REGULATIONS
VI INTERNATIONAL BIENNAL DONA I CINEMA
MUJER Y CINE – WOMAN & FILM
1. OBJECTIVES
Dona I Cinema aims to generate a live space of artistic and social creation and investigation. A space led by women, which divulgates their works and productions, promoting equal opportunities in Performing Arts and fostering the end of discriminative practices towards women.
For this reason since 2011 we run the International Biennal Dona i Cinema – Mujer y Cine – Woman & Film, a week dedicated to cinema made by and for women, with the exhibition of a selection of features, shorts, documentaries, animation and video art. All made by women.
The biennal will celebrate its 6th edition the next January 2021.
2. SECTIONS
- FEATURE FICTION (minimum 70’ running time)
- FEATURE DOCUMENTARY (minimum 45’ running time)
- SHORT FICTION (maximum 15’ running time)
- SHORT DOCUMENTARY (maximum 30’ running time)
- VIDEO ART (maximum 15’ running time)
- ANIMATION (any running time)
3. ELEGIBILITY
All films must comply with the following conditions in order to participate in the pre-selection process:
- The director must be a woman (or several women) from anywhere in the world. Co-directions with men are not eligible.
- Being produced after 1st January 2017.
4. INSCRIPTION
The final deadline to submit a film is 31st of May 2020.
There are several deadlines associated to different fees:
Early-bird > from 17th of February to 15th of March 2020
5€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries).
2€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
Regular > from 16th of March to 19th of April 2020
7€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries).
3€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
Regular deadline > from 20th of April to 31st of May 2020
10€ for Feature Films (fiction and documentaries).
5€ for Animation and Short Films (fiction, documentaries and videoart).
The submission is possible through the platform Festhome (Feature and Shorts).
Films which the original language is different than Spanish, must be subtitled in Spanish or english for the pre-selection process.
5. WORKS SELECTED
The person that submitted the film will be notified about the selection and will be instructed about the sending of the projection copy (H264, HD digital).
The Biennal will contact the films that have not being selected further on.
For the exhibition of the works the following material must be sent via e-mail:
- Stills, Poster and photos of the director.
- In one document (PDF and Word): Logline (1 line) + Synopsis (1 paragraph) + Bio/Filmography of the director (max 2 paragraphs) + Cast and Crew and Technical Spech + Festival history and awards. Please specify Premiere Status.
- Trailer (if available).
The costs of shipping the material will be covered by the participants. Projections copies will not be returned and will become part of Dona i Cinema’s filmic archive.
6. VERSIONS
All films in all different sections of the Biennal will be exhibited in their original versions. Films which original language is different from Spanish must include subtitles in this language as well as english. In case one of the two subtitles is not available in the video, we kindly request a dialogue list (Word) or .srt file of the subtitles of the not embedded dialogues.
7. PROGRAMME AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS
During the celebration of the Biennal, the organisation reserves the right to exhibit the selected movies in as many sessions as it deems convenient. For that respect, producers and/or right-holders will cede the right for public exhibition of their movies during the entire celebration of the Biennal with no additional charges. This includes Exhibitions and Screenings that the festival organises throughout the year.
For the simple fact of participating, the right-holders authorise the free reproduction of images of the work (max. 1 minute) for press, TV and promotional purposes.
8. JURY
A jury, formed by specialists in different areas of the film industry, will award Special Mentions for each one of the sections, which will be announced during the Closing Ceremony of the Biennal.
Jury decision is final.
9. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
The submission implies the acceptance of these rules and regulations.
