I. GENERAL TERMS
1. VAFI - International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival Varaždin is an independent film festival that promotes cultural creativity of children and youth and cultural creativity for children and youth. VAFI is specialized for animated films only.
2. Festival founder and organizer is the Creative Film Studio VANIMA from Varaždin, Croatia.
3. Festival coorganizers are Croatian Film Association, ASIFA Croatia and Concert Agency Varaždin.
4. The basic VAFI program is competitive.
5. VAFI has two competitive sections: JUNIOR - animated films made by children or youth under 18 years and SENIOR - animated films for children and youth up to 18 years.
6. Every year VAFI has a Partner - person, country or institution - with a long term merits in animation. A special festival program will be dedicated to the Partner.
7. VAFI 7 will be held in Varaždin from 19th to 24th April 2016.
8. In order to participate on VAFI 7, films must be produced after 1st January 2014. Films already submitted for VAFI 6, won’t be taken into consideration for VAFI 7.

II. CATEGORIES
9. VAFI JUNIOR has three competitive categories divided by the age of the author(s):
a) MINI (authors - children under 10 years)
b) MIDI (authors - children from 11 to 14 years)
c) MAXI (authors - youth from 15 to 18 years)
10. If authors belonging to two or three different categories of the Festival worked together on submitted film, the film is considered to fit the category of the oldest participant.
11. VAFI SENIOR has has three competitive categories divided by the age of the recipient:
a) MINI (animated films for children up to 10 years)
b) MIDI (animated films for children from 11 to 14 years)
c) MAXI (animated films for youth from 15 above)
12. The Organizer reserves the right to put movies in different categories than submitted, according to his own discretion.

III. ENTRY SUBMISSION
13. VAFI has no entry fee.
14. In order for your submission to be valid:
• Completed Entry Form and two snapshots from film (300 dpi) have to be send via e-mail vafi@vafi.hr no later than 20th January 2016.
• Films have to be send to Festival online or by post no later than 20th January 2016.
• Submission to the Festival via Festival Entry Form means approval of all Festival Regulations without acceptance or further notices and it is valid without signature or seal.
• Films that don't arrive on Festival address until 1st February 2016, no mater of the actual shipping date, won't be taken into the consideration for VAFI 7.

IV. TECHNICAL DETAILS
15. Films must be in DVD - PAL format, all regions, MPEG 2, MPEG 4 or AVI – via post or online.
16. The number of submitted films is not limited.
17. The duration of films is limited for VAFI SENIOR on 20 minutes and there is no time limit for VAFI JUNIOR (recommendation is 10 minutes).
18. Separate and completely filled out Entry Form is required for each film.
19. If there is a speech used in the film in a language other than English, subtitles in English must be made as the part of the film.

V. SHIPPING
20. DVDs won’t be returned to the sender.
21. DVDs and online copies of films will be kept as a part of the Festival archive.
22. All costs and the risks of shipping will be taken by the sender.
23. Festival address is: VANIMA (for VAFI 7), P. P. 5, 42000 Varaždin, Croatia, Europe.
24. On shipping has to be written: “No commercial value - for cultural purposes only”.

VI. SELECTION
25. Films for competition in VAFI JUNIOR will be chosen by members of the Selection Committee.
26. The members of the Selection Committee are people dealing with animation in any way and are appointed by the Organizer.
27. The members of the Selection Committee are in no way connected with any of the submitted film.
28. The members of the Selection Committee have the exclusive right to choose films for the Festival competition categories.
29. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and doesn’t require any explanation.
30. Films for competition in VAFI SENIOR will be chosen by Organizer.
31. Organizer has exclusive right for VAFI SENIOR competition.
32. The decision of the Organizer is final and doesn’t require any explanation.
33. The Organizer will notify by e-mail chosen entrants about the results during March 2016.



VII. SCREENINGS
34. Festival won't pay fees for screening of the selected films.
35. Organizer has the right to screen the submitted films or any parts of submitted films on any media in purpose of the VAFI presentation and in educational purposes (noncommercial use only).

VIII. JURY & AWARDS
36. The official Festival Jury for VAFI JUNIOR has three adult members – two international members and one from Croatia.
37. The members of the Jury are people dealing with and are appointed by the Organizer.
38. The members of the Jury are in no way connected with any of the submitted film.
39. The Jury will award five films per category – one first prize and four equal second prizes.
40. The first prize is the Statue and Diploma and the second prize is Diploma.
41. The official Festival Jury for VAFI SENIOR has nine members – tree per category.
42. VAFI SENIOR Jury members are children and youth, members of Creative Film Studio VANIMA from Varaždin, Croatia.
43. VAFI SENIOR Jury will award one film per category.
44. The VAFI SENIOR prize is the Statue and Diploma.

IX. ACCOMMODATION
45. After the selection, during March 2016, the Organizer will contact the responsible persons named in the Entry Forms of the films selected to discuss conditions of free accommodation during Festival.
46. Children or youth, guests of the Festival, have to be accompanied by adult.
47. VAFI JUNIOR: one adult and two children or youth per school/club/workshop/individual creation gets hotel accommodation and food at Organizer’s expense during Festival..
48. VAFI SENIOR: one adult per film which made into SENIOR competiton gets hotel accommodation and food at Organizer’s expense during Festival.
49. Organizer does not cover the travel expenses.

X. FINAL REGULATIONS
50. Submitting films is equivalent to the Participant’s statement that he owns unrestricted personal and financial rights to the films and that he takes whole responsibility for breaking those rights.
51. Participants bear full responsibility for the authenticity of the information given in the Entry Form. False or incomplete information will result in rejection from the festival.
52. The Festival is responsible for the protocol and the programming of all Festival events.
53. Non-specified matters not covered by these Regulations will be considered directly by the Festival Organizers.
54. Sending filled out Entry Form on vafi@vafi.hr or by post is considered as submission on VAFI 7 and means approval of Festival Regulations and confirmation of legal rights on films. Entry Form is considered valid without signature and seal.
