The FERRARA FILM FESTIVAL is one of the fastest growing film festival in the World, hosted in the northern Italian City of Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage site, that serves as an incredible backdrop for this high profile cinematic event.

FFF is an global film competition, that includes movie themed collateral events and entertainment shows and an exclusive partnership with UNICEF.
Ferrara Film Festival is the ultimate cultural and economical bridge between United States because is the first festival on Italian soil organized directly from Hollywood, where its headquarter is based.


ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

We are accepting films from all over the World in several categories to participate at the 2019 edition of the 4˚ Ferrara Film Festival (March 23-31 2019).

The final deadline to submit your movies is November 30 2018, with a discount fee if you submit by August 31 2018. The notification date is on December 10, 2018 and the official film line-up will be released to the public in early February 2019.

The selected films "In Competition" will be divided by the festival itself in the following sections (all applies for feature and short films):

"USA"
Films produced in the United States of America.
(The motion pictures can be filmed everywhere, but the Production Company must be legally based in the US).

"WORLD"
Films produced in the rest of planet.
(The motion pictures can also be filmed in the United States, but the Production Company must be legally based outside the US).

"DOCUMENTARY WORLD"
Feature Documentaries produced anywhere in the world.

​"EFFETTO HOLLYWOOD"
The "Effetto Hollywood" category will focus on films with a prominent amount of special effects, visual effects and/or practical effects.

"EMILIA ROMAGNA FILMMAKERS"
Films produced or shot in Emilia Romagna Region.

"YOUNG UNICEF"
Films with sensitive subject towards minors and kids.

Film length requirements:
Feature Films (minimum length 59 minutes)
Short Films (maximum length 30 minutes)

• Films can participate to other film festival prior to Ferrara Film Festival, but must not have a public distribution prior to MARCH 31 2019.
• Each film can be of any genre and from anywhere in the World.
• Each film cannot be older than 2 years from the beginning of the festival (March 23 2019).
• Each film must not have been released online (private screeners with password are OK).

The major awards of the Ferrara Film Festival are called GOLDEN DRAGONS, which recalls the legend and mythological figure of the Dragon killed by St. George (the Patron Saint of Ferrara). Each award is a prestigious sculpture covered in gold and manufactured directly in Hollywood by the Award maker KAPOW in Los Angeles.
