attend the selection process short films from any part of the Earth and beyond, made from 1 January 2016 until the end of this announcement (June 20).

The argument works must address the social sphere.

  Enter competition in the same category all sorts of genres: fiction, documentary, animation, etc.

The maximum duration of the works is 16 minutes.

Shorts can occur in any original language but always subtitled in Castilian and / or Euskara.

Berriozar Films Kultural “Lantzeluze” announces the “10th International Festival of Social Themed Short Films 2018” that will take place in Berriozar from October 25th to 27th, 2018.

The following prizes will be given (prizes attached to deductions by public prosecutor according to local law):
- Official section (Jury Award):
Best short film: 1.000 €.
Second prize: 500 €.
Third prize: 300 €.
- Participatory section:
Audience award: 300 €.

All genres will be completed in the same category: Social theme.
Registration period: May 28th to June 20th, 2018.
To participate in this Festival is required:
- To know and to meet the regulations.
- To complete the registration form: (confirma la web o cambiadla)
- To attach all the required documentation.
- To carry out the shipment correctly.
1. The Festival is international, so all short films from any part on Earth and beyond, which production has been completed after January 1st, 2017 until the deadline of this calling, can apply in the screening process.
2. The short film´s subject must deal with social topics.
3. All genres (fiction, documentary, animated films…) will be framed within one category: social theme.
4. The maximum length of the short films will be 16 minutes.
5. Short films unable to be seen due to technical or format problems won´t be accepted. All productions must have built-in sound. Short films that need auxiliary sound systems for their reproduction won´t enter into the competition.
6. Short films in any language are admitted, but they must be subtitled in Spanish and/or Basque. Subtitles must be included in the replay file.

8. Participants can submit as many films as they want.
9. One registration form must be sent for every short film submitted, using the platform Festhome.
10. Considering the festival only tries to promote audiovisual productions, without any economic interest, all participants decline, with their entries, any royalties for the exhibition of their short film during the festival.
11. The Organization will make a first selection from all the short films received, considering subject, technique, creativity… These short films will compete for the Jury Award (winners will be notified before September 9th, 2018).
12. Festival dates:
Competition stage:
- October 25th and 26th, 2018: short films projection. The audience will vote for their favourite short film.
-October 27th, 2018: awarded short films exhibition and awards ceremony.
13. Berriozar Films will designate a Jury formed by professionals in the social, cultural and audiovisual fields, who will choose the winners from all the short films selected in the screening process. The Jury could declare some of the prizes void.
The Jury will consist of five persons:
- One representative of Berriozar Films.
- One representative of the Berriozar Council.
- One representative of a Berriozar Cultural Institution or the Berriozar Public School.
- One audiovisual specialist.
- One specialist in audiovisual issues and/or artist.
14. The following prizes will be given (prizes attached to deductions by public prosecutor according to local law):
- Official section (Jury Award):
Best short film: 1.000 €.

- Participatory section:

15. The Organization will contact the winners in order to give them the chance to present their work before the final Festival exhibition. Short films may be excluded if their author doesn´t answer the organization communications timely.
16. The responsible of the winner short film or his/her representative must be present in the Award Ceremony to pick up the prize (except for the Audience Award, which will be known the day before the Awards Ceremony). The Organization will communicate the Jury’s decision to the winners in advance, for them to confirm their attendance. The Organization will cover up to 150€ per prize (in the Official selection, with Jury award) for lodging, meals and travelling expenses (the presentation of the corresponding invoices will be required to justify the expenditure).
17. The participation in this Festival is compatible with any other festival and with other prizes and grants.
18. The selected short films will be showed to the students of Berriozar Public School and in social entities after the Festival.
19. To participate in this Festival implies the acceptance of the regulations of this calling, as well as all the decisions and resolutions taken by the Organization.
