-Short films (animation and real image) should be framed in some of the categories of fantasy genre (horror, science fiction, fantasy, thriller ...).

-productions of any nationality may be presented, provided they are in Spanish or have subtitles in Spanish.

-Works whose production date is between the years 2015 and 2017 will be accepted. The Festival reserves the right to schedule short films from previous years, out of competition.

-The short films presented must not exceed 20 minutes of duration.

-The projection of the shorts will always be in professional format (DCP). In exceptional situations you can accept Blu-Ray.

BASES contest of short films of the FESTIVAL of fantastic Cinema of the Canary Islands-Skull Island 2017

The first edition of the competition will open only section to short film competition.

1. Participation.

There are two ways to present short films to the consideration of the FESTIVAL's programming Committee:

-Through the digital platform FESTHOME (https://festhome.com/).
-Sending an email (islacalaverafest@gmail.com) with a link to VIMEO (or similar platforms protected with key), accompanied by the registration form duly completed.

The deadline for receiving the viewing copies is October 18, 2017.

2. Conditions:

The programming Committee shall take into account only the short films which fulfil the following conditions:

Genre: Short Films (animation and real image) should be framed in some of the categories of fantasy genre (horror, science fiction, fantasy, thriller ...).

Nationality: a The summons may present productions of any nationality, provided they are in Castilian or have subtitles in Castilian.

Production Date: The Committee will accept works whose production date is between the years 2015 and 2017. The Festival reserves the right to schedule short films from previous years, out of competition.

Duration: The short films presented must not exceed 20 minutes duration.

Format: The projection of the shorts will always be in professional format (DCP). In exceptional situations you can accept Blu-Ray.

3. The selection committee will be announced on the website of the Canary Islands fantastic film Festival – Isla Skull, before October 28th, 2017, the selected short films to be part of the competition of their first edition.

In no case, the Festival will be responsible for expenses associated with transfers, lodgings or diets of the directors of the selected short films and/or winners.

4. The selected short films must be available to the organization of the Isla Skull Festival before November 5, 2017. Each of the copies sent must bear, in a visible place, an identification label with the following data: Title, contact, nationality and duration.

The works in competition must be delivered by postal mail at the following address:

In order to facilitate accessibility, short films must have subtitles in Castilian.

If, for any reason other than the organization, the material could not be reached for that date, it could be obliged to replace the short film with another one that guarantees its availability to carry out the relevant tests.

The Festival will not accept copies of short films that do not meet the minimum conditions of display or in other formats different from those indicated.

The costs of sending the works will be borne by the participant.

5. The Canary Islands fantastic film Festival – Skull Island will project within the programming of its first edition the selected short films and a jury made up of film-related professionals will choose the winning work.

The organization of the Skull Island Festival will decide on the days and hours of projection.

The jury will award at the end of the Festival a single prize for the best short film that has a non-economic character.

The decision of the jury shall be unappealable and may not be declared a desert.

6. Attendees of the Canary Islands fantastic film Festival – Isla Skull will be able to vote for the award of the audience to the best short film, by means of a ballot that will be delivered along with the entry and that will be returned completed at the end of the session of Projection.

7. Legal responsibilities. The contestant will be solely responsible for his short film and its content, in terms of copyright.

8. Copies used for public display in pre-established formats such as copies used for pre-selection will not be returned immediately. A place of collection will be enabled and those responsible for the production will be able to collect their film, during the 12 months following the celebration of the Festival.

8. Participation in the Festival implies the total acceptance of these Bases. The jury's verdict is unappealable. Any issue that arises throughout the Festival, not included in the Bases, will be decided by the organization of the event.
