Women in Focus emerged in 2009 with the aim of encouraging the promotion and protection of women's rights through film, through the dissemination of films that allow give visibility to the violation of their rights and encourage debate. In this way he sought to create an open standard for men and women around the world space where open dialogue between genres and promote the active participation of the whole society to defend the full exercise of human rights, with a focus on the situation women in the world. They worked on a broad call, unlimited sex, age or origin, and with the conviction that change is possible only from the inclusion of attention.

The axis of Women in Focus is on the woman and her history of violations, to disseminate and denounce the naturalization of the unjust conditions they are facing, and give visibility to the diversity of social, cultural experiences and forms of organization, aiming thinking about other possible worlds. Through films about women also understand and discuss the construction of gender and how it is all of society we seek.

The festival will award a symbolic prize.

- The Call for entries of the Women in Focus International Film Festival for gender equity is open for film-makers over 18 years old, without distinction of gender or nationality, whether they are an individual or a collective entity.

- Short and Feature films completed from 2015 are welcome for participation in the ficction, documentary, experimental / conceptual and animation genres.

- All films must be submitted with Spanish language subtitles, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

- All films are required to focus on one of the following themes:

• Forms of violence
• Cultural practices
• Emotional ties
• Work
• Migration
• Political commitment
• Diversities
• Health
• Children and Young People

-Once enrolled and selected, the film can not be removed from the Festival's programming. The selected materials will be part of the Festival's video library, which will be used for educational purposes and traveling exhibitions. One of the main objectives is to make the festival an itinerant practice, strengthening through it educational, awareness and training actions. So that the films that participate of the call can be included in new cycles of the Festival. By means of the inscription of the work, Women in Focus is authorized for its projection in the framework of the Festival as of the activities of itinerancy. Women in Focus will communicate in advance to the participants about the places and projection dates.
