- Registration is open to short films of the following kinds: fiction, animation, experimental or documentary.

- Films must have been produced after January 1st 2017.

- Films that have been presented in the previous edition of the festival will not be accepted.

- Each participant may enter a maximum of two films

- All films in a language other than Catalan or Spanish must be subtitled in one of these languages (for presentation purposes).

- Music, images and other artistic resources included in the film should be free of copyright.

- Films may not exceed 10 minutes in duration, including credits.

- Theme is free of choice. However, films containing commercial or tourism advertisements and those whose content infringes on human dignity and / or promotes hatred, contempt or discrimination on the basis of birth, race, sex, religion, nationality, political opinion or any other personal or social circumstances will be deemed ineligible and thus refused.

RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS 7th SHORT FILM COMPETITION
LA MIDA NO IMPORTA-SIZE DOESN’T MATTER
From 24 to 26 January 2019


1 - PURPOSE

The aim of La mida no importa-Size doesn’t matter is to promote the film culture.


2 - ORGANIZATION

La mida no importa- Size doesn’t matter is a Short Film Competition organized by SLOWCUrT and the Casal de Barri Folch i Torres with the support of Fundació Tot Raval, and the collaboration of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona ( MACBA) as well as some other associations and collective organizations from Raval Neighborhood, such us Ateneu del Raval.


3 - GENERAL CONDITIONS

All those shorts of fiction, animation, experimental or documentaries, accepted by the Selection Committee, may be included. The subject matter is free of choice. However, films containing commercial or tourism contents or those whose content violates human dignity and / or promotes hatred, contempt or discrimination on grounds of birth, race, sex, religion, nationality, opinion or any other personal or social circumstance will be deemed ineligible and thus refused.

Films must have been produced after January 1st, 2017 .

Films may not exceed 10 minutes in duration.


4 - REGISTRATION

Registration procedure:

Registration will be online through the Festhome platform www.festhome.com.

Participants must fill in all sections of the entry form from May 30th up until Setember 30th, 2018.

After creating a free account, participants can upload the film file in the format specified on the website (mp4 file encoded with the codec H.264 at a bitrate of 1250 kbps) with embedded subtitles, if it is the case.

5 - SUBMISSION OF HARD COPIES

Works, which do not offer necessary technical quality for a good public screening, may be rejected.

The selected films for the projection will be sent by any online platform (WeTransfer, Dropbox, etc).

For screening purposes, films in language other than Catalan or Castilian must be subtitle in one of these languages.

6 - PUBLICATION AND BROADCASTING AUTHORIZATIONS

All film registrations give to La mida no importa-Size doesn’t matter festival organizers, the authorization to publish and broadcast elements from the registered short films in Spanish television channels and the Internet.

As the festival ends, selected short films may be included in special non-profit educational and cultural programs, with the author's permission.


7 - JURY AND AWARDS

A special committee will be selecting those films that compete in the contest. The films will be screened in the auditorium of MACBA (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art) and occasionally other locations of the Raval Neighborhood from 25 to 27 January 2018.

The Jury, composed of three professionals, will select the best short films that will enter the contest.

Jurors will evaluate all selected entries and are responsible for the prize awards.

The jury decision is considered to be final and unquestionable.

The Jury may decide to award a special prize or a special mention, apart from the fixed categories.

Awards are conferred to film directors, except in the case of works produced by film academies, schools or other audiovisual teaching institutions.

Participation in La mida no importa-Size doesn’t matter implies acceptance of all the aforementioned rules and regulations. The organizers of the festival shall resolve any situation not covered by these guidelines and their decision will be final.

These regulations are published in Catalan, Spanish and English.
The Catalan text will be considered the reference text whenever any interpretation doubt may arise.
