FEATURE, DOCUMENTARY AND SHORT FILMS COMPETITION

The Dystopia, film and environment festival of the Murcia region is a project that aims to disseminate, serve as a reference and raise awareness about environmental cinema, as well as support and disseminate both national and international productions on this subject.

Awards and Winners If deemed appropriate by the festival, the winners commit to participating as jury members in future editions of the festival.

• Grand Prize of the Festival for Best Short Film: Awarded with a prize of €200 (VAT included).
All prizes are subject to current tax legislation.

The grand prize of the festival for the best environmental feature film or documentary is €400 for the company that submitted the film. Before the payment of the prizes is made, proof of ownership of the work's rights must be provided, as well as proof that the DISTOPIA FESTIVAL logo is mentioned in the credits of the work and in the promotional materials used to promote it. RULES OF THE FEATURE FILM AND DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION OF I DISTOPIA, FILM AND ENVIRONMENT FESTIVAL OF THE REGION OF MURCIA

PRESENTATION

Distopia, the film and environment festival of the Region of Murcia, is a project aimed at disseminating, serving as a reference, and raising awareness about environmental cinema, as well as supporting and promoting national and international productions on this theme.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this feature film competition is to award the best environmental-themed feature film presented to this contest.

PARTICIPATION
Participation in the festival implies acceptance of the following rules.

SUBMISSION OF WORKS AND PARTICIPATION
Participants must register through one of these platforms: Festhome. The submission period for works will begin on June 2, 2023, and end on August 15, 2023.

REQUIREMENTS
The works submitted to the competition must be original and produced between 2021 and 2023. The works submitted to the competition must not have been commercially released in Spain.
Films and documentaries of all nationalities, with a duration of at least 40 minutes, may participate.
The theme of the works must exclusively focus on the environment and address various social and environmental situations and circumstances anywhere in the world.

If the work is in english, it must have Spanish subtitles.

SCREENING OF WORKS
All works must be submitted through viewing and/or download links. The arrival of a DVD/Blu-ray will not be accepted.

SELECTION OF WORKS
Competition section: There are two competition categories, the physical section for the best European film, and the online section with the Audience Award.

All selected films that are screened during the festival will be eligible for one or more awards.

The screening format for the competing feature films will be Digital Cinema Package (DCP) or Apple ProRes format. DVD or Blu-ray formats are excluded for screening, except in exceptional cases.
Non-Spanish works must be provided with Spanish subtitles. If they are presented with english subtitles, an english dialogue list must be provided well in advance for subtitling purposes.

Films projected in DCP must comply with the DCI standard, and the film's submitting company must provide the necessary keys to the servers where the feature film will be screened.
The Festival reserves the right to make all necessary screenings during the festival.

The company submitting the film agrees to provide all promotional materials requested by the festival.

The transportation of the copies for screening, both on their way to the festival and back, will be the responsibility of the participants, including screening insurance.

JURY
The Festival Jury will consist of a group of film and environmental professionals for each section of the Festival's competition. The decision of the Jury is final and cannot be appealed. The verdict of the festival's jury is final

If anyone wishes to dispute it, the festival is willing to turn their life into a living hell by summoning 9 demons from the Seventh Legion of Satan, whose only mission on Earth will be to take over the person's house, life, and family.

RULES OF THE SHORT FILM COMPETITION OF THE 1ST DISTOPIA, FILM AND ENVIRONMENT FESTIVAL OF THE REGION OF MURCIA

Participation Guidelines:

Requirements

a. All directors, producers, and distributors who hold the rights to the works submitted to the competition may participate. The theme of the works must exclusively focus on the environment, addressing different social and environmental situations and circumstances worldwide.

b. This competition is open to live-action and animated works.

c. The submitted works must not exceed 20 minutes in duration.

d. Each participant may submit as many works as they wish.

e. Each work must have a separate registration and documentation.

f. All participants must be over 18 years of age. The works must have been produced between 2021 and 2023.

g. Works that are not in the Spanish language must be subtitled in Spanish.

h. Works that have already been selected in previous competitions will not be accepted.

i. Selected works must be provided in the following format for screening: MP4 H.264 1920X1080.

The registration period for the works will begin on June 2, 2023, and end on August 15, 2023.

No DVD or Blu-ray copies will be accepted.

Participants must register through one of these platforms: Festhome.
Additionally, once registered, participants must send the following materials to the organization:

• Director's photograph and biography.
• Logos and biographies of the production company/companies involved in the production of the submitted work.
• Technical sheet of the short film.
• Three high-resolution frames extracted from the work. Copies in 35mm will not be accepted, and the organization will not be responsible for this type of material and will not accept works in this format.

Selected Shorts:

The Festival Jury will consist of a panel of film and environmental professionals for each competition section of the Festival. The Jury's decision is final.

The shorts will be screened during the festival at the Festival venues in the city of Murcia.

The festival reserves the right to make as many public screenings as it deems necessary during the festival.
Distributors and producers will grant the rights for public screenings at no cost to the festival. The public screening of the works will be in the format required in point "i" of the requirements section (HD).

The materials submitted for the festival's competition registration may be used in different festival advertising elements and materials.

The jury will select the winning works, which will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony. The jury may also make special mentions, which may or may not include a monetary prize.

The selection for the competition and the jury's decision are final, irrevocable, unchangeable, indestructible, and incorruptible in this and other dimensions, including habitable planets within or outside our solar system. Furthermore, they will be recorded on some sacred material and protected by a curse of misfortune aimed at preventing any temptation to harm them. At the very least.
