Festival start: 03 June 2023      Festival end: 03 June 2023

The 3M Festival is a short film competition for everyone, where the originality of the story takes precedence over the technical aspect of the productions.

3 WORDS, 3 MONTHS, 3.33 MINUTES

The concept of the Festival revolves around "3M":
participants must produce in less than 3 Months a film of less than 3 Minutes 33 containing the 3 Words of the edition.

The Festival jury awards 6 prizes: the M Gold, M Silver and M Bronze, the Special Mention, the Prize for the Best Interpretation, and the Prize for the Best Use of 3 Words. And you also have the opportunity at the end of the screening to vote for the Public Prize!

RULES 2023
The FADA BRASSICA association is organizing the 13th edition of the short film competition entitled “Festival 3M”. This competition is open to everyone, regardless of cinematographic knowledge or technical means.

The 15 finalist films will be broadcast during a ceremony on June 3, 2023 at Espace K and will be found online, both on the 3M Festival website and on YouTube, for a minimum duration of 3 years. At the end of the ceremony, a jury will reward the films with a prize giving accompanied by a trophy.

A film submitted to the competition must be represented by a natural person. This representative must be over 18 years of age. He or she will be called “participant” in the rest of the rules.

Minors who wish to participate in the competition must be represented by an adult.

Participation in the competition is free and implies the participant's unreserved acceptance of these rules.

Registration
The participant must complete the online form to participate in the contest. In particular, he will be asked to provide an email address and a telephone number in order to facilitate exchanges with him. These data will remain private, they will not be shared with third parties by the association. He will also be asked what his city of residence is. This information may be shared with the public during the Ceremony.

The competition
The theme of the contest focuses on the three words announced on February 12, 2023.

Films in competition must explicitly use these three words. Words can be spoken, written or represented. The admissibility of the use of the 3 words is at the discretion of the selection committee. The use of words in a foreign language is authorized as long as a French translation with subtitles is provided.

On the other hand, the film must have a duration less than or equal to three minutes and thirty-three seconds, credits included.
All types of films are accepted, including animation.

Copyright
Any participant who submits their work as part of this competition certifies and warrants:

• that he is the sole and unique author and that he does not directly and/or indirectly infringe the rights of third parties (original music, images and film extracts, etc.),

• or that he holds all the above rights,

• or that he has obtained the necessary authorizations for the use of works of which he is not the author.

Terms of deposit
The short film must be returned before the deadline of Sunday May 14, 11:59 p.m.
It must be provided in video file format. It is strongly recommended to produce a file with an image format of 1920×1080 pixels (cropped format accepted), compressed with a standard codec (h264, h265) otherwise the technical team may not be able to broadcast correctly the film during the ceremony.

The video file must be combined with a text file containing the following information:

• the title of the short film,

• the name of the directors and screenwriters (or if necessary the pseudonyms),

• the name of the actors (or if necessary the pseudonyms) and the title of their character in the film,

• a brief summary of the action (less than 60 words)

Nicknames
If your film is selected, the credits related to your video production (names of directors, actors, screenwriters, etc.) will appear on social networks (YouTube, Facebook, etc.) and on this site. You can, however, request to use nicknames for the credits of this video.

It is requested to include subtitles in French when the short film is made in a foreign language. This captioning can be provided in a separate file. In this case it must be in .srt format.

Selection of films in competition
Participation in the contest does not guarantee the participant that his film will be selected. Of all the films received by the association on May 14, around 15 films will take part in the final competition on June 3, less if the number of films received is insufficient, and more if the selection committee decides to extend the selection. (for example if the screening time of all the films selected is too short).

The ranking will not be made public. The films selected by the association will be announced on May 20.

May 28 ceremony
The participant in the competition accepts, if selected, that his film be screened during the 3M Festival ceremony at Espace K.

The participant and/or people who participated in the creation of the film will be present during this ceremony if possible. They will thus be able to present the film during the evening and possibly receive the awards given by the jury.

And after the ceremony
The participant accepts that his film be put online both on the 3M Festival website (www.festival3m.fr) and on YouTube (www.youtube.com/festival3m) for a minimum period of 3 years. Beyond this period, the film may be removed from the internet at the request of the participant.

The participant also accepts that after the ceremony his film will be highlighted on the other social network accounts of Festival 3M (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok).
