Submission rules


An entry fee is applicable per film.(early-bird prices in affect until March 1st 2015)
*A regular entry - £5
*All Under-18s and Students - £2.50

- All films must have been completed no more than three years prior to the start of the festival. Films completed before 9th October 2012 will not be accepted.

- Entries made digitally must be PAL Region 2 format.

- Entries made in a language other than English must be subtitled in English. If the film is not subtitled it will not be accepted.

- Any film made in a language other than English must be entered into the International category.

- Films made outside of the UK must be entered to the International category.

- Films made by a director from outside the UK but produced inside the UK may be entered into any suitable category including International.

- Films entered into the Student category must have been completed whilst the filmmaker was in full time education no more than three years ago. The filmmaker can enter a film made as a student into another category instead if they so wish.

- Films entered into the Under-18 category must have been completed before the filmmakers 18th birthday and may not be entered into another category. Films may be made by an individual or by a group under the age of eighteen. It may feature actors over eighteen years of age.

- All entries must be no longer than 15 minutes.

- All entries must be no shorter than 1 minute.

- Due to possible high numbers of entrants, some films may not make the final selection. Fees are non-refundable if the film is not selected.

- For a film to be entered we will need the completed submission form, a digital copy of the film and the correct submission fee via our Paypal button on the website.

- Winning films will be voted for by a panel of judges and awards handed out on the final night of the festival, winning filmmakers will receive a trophy.

- A representative from each nominated film (director, actor, producer etc.) must attend the awards ceremony, if no one from the film can make it, the organisers MUST be notified as far in advance as possible.

- Clips of each film selected will be used to create promotional material for the festival and for opening and nomination montages.

- A filmmaker may enter up to three films; an entry fee is applicable per film, as is a separate submission form.

- The awards ceremony will have a compulsory smart/casual dress code; screenings will not have a dress code. (You will want to look good in your award photo)

- A group photo of all winning filmmakers will be taken at the awards ceremony.

- If a film has material inappropriate to certain audiences (i.e. not suitable for young children due to lots of coarse swearing) it must be made known to the organisers on the submission form. This does not hinder its chances of being selected.

- A film may be selected for screening but not nominated for an award (excluding Audience Choice for which all films screened are eligible); all films nominated will be screened. If the film is selected for screening and/or is nominated the filmmaker will be made aware of their films status prior to the festival. Winners will be notified at the awards ceremony when their name is read out.

- The judge’s decision is final.

- Submissions received after the 2nd June 2015 will not be entered. This does not stop the filmmaker from re-entering the same film the following year, so long as it is still not longer than three years old at the time of the succeeding festival. Filmmakers will be notified if their film has missed the deadline.

- If you entered a film to last years festival and it was not selected you may enter it again (an entry fee will be applicable). It may not be entered again if it is older than three years old at the time of the 2015 festival or was selected in a previousfestival.

- Due to possible high numbers of entries not all films will be selected, we cannot inform filmmakers if the film has not made selection.
