Eligible for competition are the films (shot on film or HD - filming and distribution in HD 1080p or 720p) that have a running time no longer than 15 minutes (excluded titles) and completed after January, 1st 2015. They can be of any nationality, do not need to be exclusive world wide, but preferably be an Italian premiere. Industrial or commercial works cannot be accepted in competition. Participants agree that films entered for the International Competition might be selected for other non-competitive sections that are part of the Festival’s official selection.
In the event of a selection, the applicant must guarantee to the festival organization the availability and shipment of a screening copy in the appropriate format (1080p HD file, through internet upload if technically feasible or through the shipment of a hard drive) at the latest two weeks prior to the beginning of the festival. Note: the festival cannot at the moment guarantee the possibility of screening DCP copies.

The eventual cost of the shipment to the festival are at the applicant’s expense while any return shipment cost will be paid by the festival. In order to avoid issues with customs, international shipments must mention clearly the following: “without commercial value – for temporary cultural use”. Shipments through postal or express courrier service must have a proforma invoice whose amount must not exceed $10 or €10. The festival organization will not pay any custom fees. In the event that a screening copy comes from another festival, it is the responsibility of the applicant to organize and guarantee its expedition in time. In parallel, the applicant must send to the organization (film@capalbiocinema.com with copy to info@capalbiocinema.com) an email indicating the name of the film, its submission reference number, and all the information pertaining to the shipment (date, courrier company, shipment number, tracking number, etc.) when the shipment is done. Participants are not entitled to claim rental or other fees for the screenings of their films at the festival.

In order to consider your film for selection you must pay an entry fee:

Early Bird deadline 29th January 2016 fee: 10€
Regular deadline 29th April 2016 fee: 15€

The selected films are insured against damages by the festival in the frame of a “all risk” policy during all the period they are in the festival possession. In the event of loss or damage during the festival, the cost of a new print will be refunded according to the present Italian prices of the work. The submitted works can be selected indifferently for competitive and non- competitive sections of the festival.
Capalbio International Film Festival develops its distribution and promotion activities and may propose to entrants to be included in its distribution program. After the festival, and in agreement with the rights holders, Capalbio Film Festival presents the festival’s winning films and selected films that were shown in festival programmes, at non-commercial screenings of festival highlights. Participants are not entitled to claim rental or other fees for the screenings of their films at the festival.

The festival asks the applicants, if possible, to send a trailer or a clip of the film, approved by the author, that can be inserted in a dedicated area of the festival website. The screening rights and the musical rights are under the responsibility of the author(s). Entering a film for the Capalbio International Film Festival selection implies the automatic agreement of screening during the festival in terms to be established by the direction.

Films will be screened in original version with Italian subtitles and with English subtitles if necessary. International and Italian entrants will be required to provide a dialog list in English, preferably with timecodes, or a subtitle file in srt / stl format.
