Festival start: 25 May 2020      Festival end: 25 May 2020

The Continental Film Festival is a bi-annual event that opens doors for filmmakers in all continents to have a fair chance at receiving IMDb-eligible awards. We hold a live screening each Spring and Fall, giving you an opportunity to enter your film when you are absolutely ready.

Our judges composed of industry professionals as well as a jury made up of a non-industry audience will privately screen the films and rank them in several criteria including writing, cinematography, sound design, editing, acting and directing. Many will be chosen as Semi-Finalists, also known as Nominees, and these will be eligible to win category-specific IMDb-qualifying awards.

A few will be chosen Finalists and these will be screened at our live event held at The Burroughes Building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, one of the most multicultural cities on the face of the Earth.

One of them will win the Best Film of the Festival award along with a First Runner-Up as well as a Second Runner-Up.

Category-specific IMDb-eligible awards include but not limited to:

Best Animation
Best Comedy
Best Drama
Best Experimental
Best Horror
Best Mystery
Best Thriller
Best Web Series
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Cast
Best Cinematography
Best Director
Best First-Time Filmmaker
Best Student Film
Best Writer

The Continental Film Festival (ContinentalFF) is a bi-annual event aiming to bring the continents together through the love of film.

Each edition screens the Finalists at a live event held at The Burroughes Building, Toronto.

ContinentalFF accepts feature films, short films, micro short films and web series in narrative, experimental, documentary and animation styles.

ContinentalFF accepts the following genres: animation, comedy, drama, experimental, fantasy, horror, mystery, period piece, romance, science fiction, suspense, thriller and others that may not fit in these categories.

All entries must have an online screener via the Festhome platform, Vimeo or YouTube.

All entries must be in English or have English subtitles.

All Semi-Finalists are eligible for awards but will not be screened at our live event.

All Finalists are guaranteed to be screened at our live event and are also eligible for awards.

A Winners' List will be posted on our website.

ContinentalFF does not pay screening fees for chosen films.

ContinentalFF submission fees are non-refundable. In the event of a withdrawal by the filmmaker, you may contact us to discuss your options at cff@altff.org.
