Festival start: 04 February 2020      Festival end: 25 March 2020

Azkuna Zentroa www.azkunazentroa.eus opens a call to take part in the BIdeOtik. Attending other audio-visual narratives programme, within the Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao film and audio-visual programme during February and March 2020.

The call is open to artists and video-creators whose medium for developing works around video-art, experimental video, dance video, animation or documentary is audio-visual

Azkuna Zentroa is a Society and Contemporary Culture centre, in Bilbao, Basque Country that connects society and contemporary culture by 6 programming lines: Contemporary Art, Live Arts, Cinema and Audio visual, Society, Digital Culture and Literature. All of them dialogue among themselves in order to generate a hybrid and expanded programming, which encourages treatment of the contemporary through mediation and education as the channel to generate critical knowledge and transform society through art and its artists.

As part of our programme, Azkuna Zentroa carries out different creation support initiatives related to contemporary film and audio-visual with a view to fostering the production of artistic works approaching communities of publics albeit via works produced or in the creative processes thereof.

BIdeOtik. Attending other audio-visual narratives is presented as a meeting place between audio-visual creation and the public. After 4 years of a curated programme and a reflection process, we are now embarking on this new stage with this goal to contemplate:

- Continuing to make artistic, cultural creative audio-visual visible as a cultural and social creation, reflection and transformation tool.

- Boosting development of the audio-visual sector by creating a space as outreach for local, national and European audio-visual works.

- Fostering education of the public for creative and avant-garde audio-visual.

- Fostering the use of new languages through images in movement and digital art.

- Consolidating Azkuna Zentroa as a meeting hub in Bilbao for interaction among the different agents taking part in the creative audio-visual chain.

The works selected will be screened during the BIdeOtik. Attending other audio-visual narratives programme at Azkuna Zentroa during February and March 2020, pursuant to the programme to be decided once the Assessment Committee’s decision is known.

The works will be screened during sessions favouring the meeting of publics interested in exchanging and dialoguing about the audio-visual creation process. Therefore, the presence of the author(s) is required on the day of screening. These sessions will include a debate with the attending public in the Azkuna Zentroa Bastida Hall (Appendix I. Technical equipment of the hall)

This is not a competition, but rather an exhibition aiming to foster and divulge different artistic and experimental practices in relation to video.
