Festival start: 21 August 2023      Festival end: 27 August 2023

The secocond edition of the Sea Film Festival - Puerto de Ideas Biobío seeks to convene documentary film productions that have the seas and oceans as a common thread, addressing their themes from a scientific, cultural, or artistic point of view.

In a global scenario of social and economic crises, climate change, and loss of biodiversity and habitats, it is becoming increasingly necessary to understand and respect the oceans and seas better and value their existence and importance for the present and future of humanity and the planet.

The “Best Film” award will include an invitation to be part of the Festival's jury for the upcoming edition, covering the airfare tickets to Chile to participate in Puerto de Ideas Biobío, as well as a sculpture of the Carmelita Fish of Concepción (Percilia Irwini), an endemic species to the region.

The “Best Short Film” award will include an invitation to be part of the Festival's jury for the upcoming edition, covering the airfare tickets to Chile to participate in Puerto de Ideas Biobío, as well as a sculpture of the Carmelita Fish of Concepción (Percilia Irwini), an endemic species to the region.

There will be a "Best Film" category in which medium-length and feature-length films with a maximum duration of 90 minutes with the seas and oceans as the main theme, can be submitted.

There will be a "Best Short Film" category where short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes with the seas and oceans as the main theme can be submitted.

During the first two weeks of August, the applications will be reviewed by an international jury that will decide on the selected applications.

The jury will choose by the absolute majority of its members the winning productions in both categories. If a decision is not obtained in a first vote, the two most voted productions will go to a second round.

The productions will be exhibited during the development of the festival at the Dante Theater in Talcahuano.
