EL GRITO is the first and only Fantastic and Horror Film Festival in Venezuela.

The mountainous city of San Cristóbal, Táchira State, hosts this unprecedented event in the country.

EL GRITO seeks to raise its voice until it becomes a thunderous noise that shakes our city and summons for years all kinds of nightmares and monsters that can strengthen our worn out humanity sensibility.

The call to register short films from anywhere in the world of up to 25 minutes in the categories is opened: Best International Horror Short Film, Best Fantastic International Short Film, Best International Science Fiction Short Film, Best Animated International Short Film, Best International Documentary Short Film, Best International Video Art and Best National Short Film

The call closes on October 15, 2019.

1. The deadline for works registration is October 15, 2020.

2. The event will take place from December 3 to 5, 2020 online through the FestHomeTv platform.

3. Short films from 1 to 25 minutes long are accepted with credits included

4. Works in the following categories may participate:

• Best International Horror Short Film
• Best International Fantastic Short Film
• Best Animated Short Film
• Best Documentary Short Film
• Best International Horror Video Art
• Best National Short Film (Venezuela)
• Best Short Film Made with a Cell Phone

5. Short films must fit into our themes: horror, horror, science fiction, fantasy, thriller, suspense, film noir, black humor, gore and the like.

6. The works must have a completion date from January 2018.

7. Short films from any region of the world are accepted.

8. The reception of shorts will be via the web. Films outside of Venezuela will be received through our partner platforms: FilmFreeway, FestHome and ClickForFestivals, while Venezuelan filmmakers residing inside or outside the country should send an email to elgritofestival@gmail.com requesting the registration form.

9. The cost of registration per short film in any of our categories is $ 10 for participants outside of Venezuela ($ 8 for students), while for Venezuelan filmmakers their registration has no cost.

10. Short films that are not spoken in Spanish must include subtitles in this language. Titles in English will be accepted when they are not available in Spanish.

11. More than one work per director is accepted. However, registration does not guarantee a screening at the festival.

12. The organizing committee will make a selection of the material to present. The selected short filmmakers will receive a digital certificate as participants and laurel of selected or winner of any category.

13. The costs of the manufacture of the statuette and its shipment are borne by the winner, if he / she wants the trophy.

14. The Festival Organizing Committee invites a specialized jury to curate the material sent and the programming of screenings will be carried out according to well-founded criteria.

15. The short films will be screened virtually through the FestHomeTv platform, where those who purchase festival tickets will have access to the programming.

16. Recognitions will be awarded in the festival categories, in addition to the following special mentions:

• Best Production
• Best Direction
• Best Direction of Photography
• Best Art Direction
• Better Visual Effects
• Best Sound Design
• Featured Script
• Best Performance
• Audience Award

17. The jury will be made up of 3 members of recognized trajectory in the cinematographic industry and related areas, with different areas of expertise, always including researchers and / or teachers to give importance to cinema as an aesthetic phenomenon and research product.

18. After the exhibition within the framework of the event, the filmmakers will be given the opportunity to further disseminate their work through its projection in distribution circuits.

19. Enrollment in the event implies the authorization of the filmmakers to the organizers for the virtual exhibition of their works, not only at the festival, but also in special exhibitions, in addition to the use of images, posters or part of their work (no more than 20 seconds) to promote the event.
