EL GRITO is the first and only Fantastic and Horror Film Festival in Venezuela.

The mountainous city of San Cristóbal, Táchira State, hosts this unprecedented event in the country.

EL GRITO seeks to raise its voice until it becomes a thunderous noise that shakes our city and summons for years all kinds of nightmares and monsters that can strengthen our worn out humanity sensibility.

The call to register short films from anywhere in the world of up to 25 minutes in the categories is opened: Best International Horror Short Film, Best Fantastic International Short Film, Best International Science Fiction Short Film, Best Animated International Short Film, Best International Documentary Short Film, Best International Video Art and Best National Short Film

The call closes on October 15, 2019.

1. The objectives of EL GRITO International Fantastic Film and Horror Festival are the training of young filmmakers and the promotion of audiovisual culture in Venezuela and Colombia, as well as the special celebration of a genre that attracts and inspires the youngest.

2. From December 14, 2019, until October 16, 2020 the call for the registration of films opens.

3. Works in the following categories may participate: fiction, documentary, and animation; with a maximum duration of 20 min with credits included.

4. Participants from any region of Venezuela and the world are accepted.

5. The reception of shorts will be in two modalities to be chosen by the participant: In physical, DVD format, (2 copies on data DVD, MP4 video format) send to: MRW Barrio Obrero Office, Los Ahorcados Chapel, Carrera 22 between street 12 and 12. 6. More than one job per filmmaker is accepted. However, registration does not guarantee screening at the festival. The organizing committee will make a selection of the material to present. Selected short filmmakers will receive a certificate as participants.

7. The Organizing Committee of the Festival invites a specialized jury for the curation of the material sent and the programming of projections will be carried out according to well-founded criteria.

8. In addition to the curation process for the projection, an evaluation of the selected material will be carried out to grant recognition in the categories of: FICTION, DOCUMENTARY, ANIMATION, with special mentions such as HIGHLIGHTED SCREENPLAY, BEST ACTION and BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS.

9. The jury will consist of 3 members, of recognized trajectory in the film guild, with different areas of expertise, always including researchers and / or teachers to give importance to cinema as an aesthetic phenomenon and research product.

10. After the public exhibition within the framework of the event, filmmakers will be given the opportunity to disseminate their work through our website www.bordes.com.ve and / or the management of their projection in others distribution circuits such as the national kinematics network.

11. The inscription in the event implies the authorization of the filmmakers for the exhibition of their works in said projections and the use of images or video of their work for the promotion of the festival.
