Starting from 2003, Open Doors has been championing filmmaking from regions where independent cinema is especially challenging, building bridges for collaboration across regions, countries and continents. Through Open Doors' public and professional programs, we aim to provide a space where talents find support in every step of their creative and professional journey and where discussion and reinvention of today’s cinema can happen among free voices.
The ultimate goal of the Open Doors is to contribute to the development of a more collaborative worldwide film community without borders, while making the independent scene stronger and more sustainable.

Locarno Open Doors
Convocatoria JIIFF Lab: abierta a duplas director–productor iberoamericanas con un largometraje de ficción en desarrollo avanzado. Se pide formulario online, CV y fotos de la dupla, sinopsis, tratamiento, presupuesto detallado y plan de financiamiento, ficha técnica y notas de dirección/producción. Se seleccionarán 8 proyectos, con viaje y alojamiento incluidos, tutorías profesionales y posibilidad de optar al Fondo Pfeffer del Sur (US$ 50 000).

JIIFF LAB
Creado por el Festival de Locarno en 2014, Industry Academy es un programa de formación intensiva cuyo objetivo es fomentar la innovación en jóvenes profesionales de la industria del cine, que trabajan específicamente en el área de la circulación de cine independiente: distribución en línea y tradicional, ventas, marketing cinematográfico, exhibición, programación en festivales, entre otros. El taller actúa como un atajo para una nueva generación de profesionales que ingresan a la industria del cine independiente, fomentando su desarrollo y ayudándoles a comprender mejor los retos de la industria, así como a ampliar sus redes de contactos. El objetivo de Locarno Industry Academy es también construir puentes de colaboración a través de diferentes mercados en Europa, América del Norte, Iberoamérica, Medio Oriente, África del sur y en el sur asiático.
