The Galician Freaky Film Festival (GFFF), based in Spain, hosts an international call aimed at the development of short films within the fantastic genre. The initiative supports original projects in horror, science fiction, and other “freak”-related subgenres, specifically targeting works that are still in development and not yet produced.

The call is open to participants of any nationality, including individuals, production companies, film schools, and similar entities. Selected projects will take part in a pitching session, where they must present and defend their proposals before a professional jury during the festival.

The submission deadline is May 11, 2026, and the festival — including the pitching event — will take place from September 18 to 26, 2026.

FICC Industria is the professional section of the Centelles en Curt festival in Spain, focused on the exhibition and circulation of short films within an audiovisual industry and networking environment. The call is open to international submissions and accepts fiction, documentary, and animation projects. The accepted format is exclusively short films.

The submission period opened on March 4, 2026, and the final deadline is June 22, 2026. The event will take place from July 10 to July 12, 2026, in Centelles, Barcelona. El Taller de Revisión de Guion brinda la oportunidad a cineastas independientes de todo el mundo de trabajar de manera intensiva en sus guiones de largometraje de ficción en un entorno pensado para fomentar la colaboración profesional y el desarrollo de guiones de alta calidad. El Taller de Revisión de Guion consiste en un taller-residencia de dos semanas de duración y un módulo de seguimiento en línea de dos días.

Los facilitadores y las facilitadoras del taller son profesionales con amplia experiencia. Además del asesoramiento para el desarrollo de los guiones impartido en sesiones de trabajo grupales e individuales, los participantes disponen de tiempo para la escritura. El taller brinda a cada participante la oportunidad de discutir su proyecto con un grupo de cineastas internacionales, formar parte de una comunidad de artistas con sensibilidades similares y acceder a la red de cineastas de Cine Qua Non Lab.

Sitges FanPitch – Catalunya Imaginària 2026 is an international pitching platform within the Sitges Film Festival (Spain), focused on the development of audiovisual projects in the fantasy, science fiction, and horror genres. The call opens on March 9, 2026, with a standard submission period until May 31, 2026, followed by an extended deadline until June 30, 2026 as the final cutoff date. Selected projects will be announced on September 1, 2026. The pitching event will take place in hybrid format on October 12–13, 2026 in Sitges, Catalonia.

The call is open internationally, allowing submissions from any country, provided projects are in development. It is aimed primarily at feature films and series, including documentary projects within the genre framework. The Catalunya Imaginària label ensures the inclusion of at least one Catalan-language project in the final selection. The 7th Ibero-American Screenwriting Residency is a 4‑week immersive program taking place in Cali, Colombia, from October 20 to November 14, 2025. It is aimed at Ibero-American screenwriters with at least a first draft of a fiction feature screenplay.

The residency includes narrative and rewriting labs, staging workshops, and project development sessions. Participants receive group and individual mentorship, plus access to a Production Meeting with producers and industry professionals.

Cali, a UNESCO Creative City, offers a vibrant environment for writing and networking. Over 50 writers from 9 countries have joined previous editions, with films later featured in international festivals.
