The 48 takes place on different weekends in different cities throughout the year. In each city local Film Teams—from beginners to pro's--compete to make a short film in only a weekend! Do you and your friends have what it takes to make a film on the fly?
It all begins with the Friday night Kickoff event when you and teams in your city draw genres out of a hat and receive the required elements for your film.
Then it is off to the races—writing, shooting and editing and doing whatever it takes to submit your short film on Sunday night.
The big payoff is seeing your masterpiece in the big screen at a local theater. Every film, both on-time and late, will screen. There is nothing better than seeing your film with an audience and seeing firsthand how they react to your movie.
At the city awards event, the winning films—as determined by local judges—are announced. More than a dozen awards are given—from Best Acting to Best Directing to the top prize: Best Film.

The 48 Hour Film Project
20 LAB – “Ópera de Leyva” Screenplay Pitch will take place in Bogotá and Villa de Leyva, Colombia, from November 12 to 16, 2026. The call is exclusively for Colombian national projects and will accept applications until October 12, 2026; the opening date is not specified. Results will be announced on October 20, 2026.
The laboratory will select seven fiction feature film debut projects. It focuses on project development and pitch preparation through working sessions, group workshops, and personalized mentoring with national and international experts in areas such as development, screenwriting, production, pitching, character, structure, exhibition, and distribution. Screenwriters, directors, and producers with projects that meet the call requirements may participate.

Script Pitch - Ópera Leiva
The Ñuble National Film Festival presents the Confluencias 2026 call, aimed at strengthening the region’s cultural identity and promoting Chilean cinema. Filmmakers from across the country are invited to participate in various sections and industry labs.
The call includes three industry initiatives: the First Feature Lab for fiction projects in early feature stages; the Regional Documentary Lab, for those developing documentary projects at different production stages; and the New Media and Extended Realities Lab, focused on immersive, interactive, or transmedia projects.
All industry activities will take place in person at the Municipal Cultural Center of Chillán from January 13 to 17, 2026. Additionally, there will be a Virtual Reality room open to the public to experience lab projects. Registration for participation is open until November 2, 2025.

XR Industry and Experiences Meeting in Ñuble
ESTELAB 2026 is the eighth edition of the Co-Production Laboratory between Latin America and Europe. It will take place in Bogotá, Colombia, from November 24 to 28, 2026, with in-person and virtual participation. The opening date of the call is not specified, and applications close on October 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., Colombia time.
The call is aimed at fiction and documentary feature film projects in development, with an advanced version of the treatment and a projected filming date no earlier than 2027. Projects must be submitted by a producer-director team linked to the project. The laboratory will select a maximum of 10 projects and is focused on developing and strengthening their international co-production possibilities, with special attention to connections between Latin America and Europe.

ESTELAB CREA
MAFF (Málaga Festival Fund & Co Production Event), organized by MAFIZ as part of the Málaga Film Festival (Spain), is a co-production market aimed at feature-length fiction, documentary, and animation projects in an advanced stage of development. The call is open to production companies from Spain, Portugal, and Latin American countries, fostering international co-production, financing opportunities, mentoring, and networking with industry professionals. Short films, TV series, web series, TV movies, and journalistic reports are not eligible. The 2026 call for projects is open from July 15 to October 22, 2026, and the event will take place March 2–5, 2027, in Málaga, Spain.
