A space where writers can refine their skills, receive feedback, and connect with a community that shares their passion for storytelling. The SFIF Writers Lab also plays a crucial role in the development and success of Icelandic writers by providing a supportive environment for learning, growth, collaboration, and networking. A 3-day Writers’ Room Lab exploring the creative process of storytelling for Film & TV. The goal of the lab is to develop and encourage new languages of storytelling to emerge and build a pipeline of writers telling stories that would otherwise not come to the surface. Our major initiative is to invite writers who are experienced but who need their craft nurtured and work through their market-ready screenplays to pitch them to the industry.

The scripts in development category aims to encourage and support fiction feature film projects in development and give new projects the opportunity to emerge. Promote the development and production of feature films that are made within the independent framework.

Fiction projects from Latin America and other regions, such as Europe, in development that have a treatment or the first version of the script may participate. The projects must be accompanied by a dossier that contains all the project information.

Requirements: Send the script of your feature film or the treatment of your project. Along with the dossier that must include: Logline, Technical sheet, Synopsis, Director photo, Director biofilmography, Director motivation, Producer photo, Producer biofilmography, Producer motivation, Stills of the project, Personal data.

The main objective is to promote direct contact between Latin American series projects and those from the rest of the world in the development stage with professionals from the audiovisual industry, producers and platforms and other people responsible for the creation of episodic content from all over the world.

A maximum of 10 projects will be selected. Projects must have the bible of their project developed and the pilot chapter of their series. Projects that have the teaser of their project can also participate. The maximum duration of the pilot chapters must be 50 minutes.

Created by the Locarno Festival in 2014, Industry Academy is an intensive training program which aims to train and support young film industry professionals working specifically in the area of ​​independent film circulation: online and traditional distribution, sales, film marketing, exhibition, festival programming, among others. The workshop acts as a shortcut for a new generation of professionals entering the independent film industry, encouraging their development and helping them better understand the challenges of the industry, as well as expand their networks. The objective of Locarno Industry Academy is also to build bridges of collaboration across different markets in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Southern Africa.

Emerging professionals in the field of circulation can apply, preferably under 40 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the areas of sales, marketing, online and traditional distribution, exhibition, programming, curatorship and cultural management, and with an excellent level of English (written and spoken).
