The IBF Europe – Minority Co‑production call by the IDFA Bertha Fund targets creative international documentary projects. Projects must involve at least one European producer and one non-European co-producer, and the director can be from any eligible country. All nonfiction documentary genres are accepted, typically in cinematic format with a minimum duration of 60 minutes.
The next application deadlines are April 1, 2026, and January 15, 2027. Selected projects receive funding in three installments: the first payment (50 %) after contract signing, the second (30 %) upon submission of the rough cut or offline final cut, and the third (20 %) after completion of the film and submission of the final financial report. The first payment is expected between July and October 2026, while the remaining funds depend on the project’s progress, with final delivery required by December 1, 2027.
This fund supports international collaboration, encouraging high-quality documentary productions and fostering cultural exchange between European and non-European producers.

IBF Europe - IDFA
Ventana Sur Docs is a call dedicated exclusively to feature-length documentary films, held within the Ventana Sur Río de la Plata 2025 market in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is aimed at Latin American projects or international co-productions with a majority Latin American involvement and a clear interest in international co-production. Series and other formats are not eligible.
The call includes two main sections: Pitch, intended for documentary projects in development, and Work in Progress, aimed at projects in an advanced editing stage with an expected completion date by March 2026. Both sections are designed to connect filmmakers with producers, funders, sales agents, and international programmers.
The application period opens on August 26, 2025, and closes on September 25, 2025, with selected projects announced on October 15, 2025. Ventana Sur Docs will take place as part of the Ventana Sur market from December 1 to December 5, 2025, in Buenos Aires.

The SSIFF – Lau Haizetara 2026 Documentary Co-Production Forum, held within the San Sebastián Film Festival, is an international industry call focused on documentary projects in development seeking co-production and financing opportunities. It is organized by EPE-IBAIA in collaboration with the San Sebastián Film Festival and takes place in San Sebastián, Spain.
The application deadline is June 27, 2026, and the forum will be held from September 21 to 23, 2026, during the San Sebastián Film Festival.
This is an international call, open to independent production companies with documentary projects in development, particularly those aiming for European co-production.
The call is dedicated exclusively to the documentary genre, targeting projects at an early or mid-development stage within a professional industry context.

SSIFF - Lau Haizetara
La Palma Rueda 2025, part of the Festivalito La Palma, invites filmmakers from all over the world to create, shoot, and edit a short film within one week, based on a theme revealed at the opening event. The contest takes place June 7–15, 2025, in various towns on the island of La Palma, Spain. There are two categories: Andrómeda (professionals) and Lyra (beginners), with registration open until May 31. Films must be 1–4 minutes long, shot at least 50% on location in La Palma, and follow the Festivalito’s sustainability guidelines. The competition encourages community-building and cinema as a tool for social change. Awards will recognize best film, acting, cinematography, sustainability, gender equality, and other artistic and technical merits.
