In Brief is a new section of Ventana Sur dedicated to Latin American short films in advanced post-production stages or with a final cut. This call for submissions offers a unique opportunity for filmmakers to participate in specialized activities, connect with industry professionals, and receive resources to enter the global short film market.

IN BRIEF – Ventana Sur
The 3rd Queer Audiovisual Residency 2026, organized by Fundación Cuórum, is accepting applications until October 13, 2025. It is aimed at filmmakers and visual artists of any nationality with projects in development—including fiction, documentary, audiovisual essay, experimental, or hybrid formats, whether short, medium, or feature-length. The main goal is to strengthen project portfolios through conceptual, creative, and technical support, with a focus on inclusion, sexual and gender diversity, social justice, empathy, and critical thinking.
The program comprises two phases: a virtual phase from February to March 2026 with lectures and one-on-one mentoring; followed by a five-day in-person phase in November 2026 in Mexico City, offering professional guidance, specialized training, and networking opportunities. During this in-person segment, the Foundation will cover accommodation and meals for up to two people per project; travel to Mexico City is the responsibility of the participants. Additionally, selected projects must pay a one-time administrative fee of USD 200.

Queer Audiovisual Residency
The Berlinale Co-Production Market is one of the Berlinale's industry initiatives alongside the European Film Market, Berlinale Talents and World Cinema Fund. It is the festival's five-day event bringing together 600 select international producers, sales agents, distributors as well as broadcasting and funding representatives who are actively working in international co-productions. MIPCOM - Cannes
The Episodio 0: Series in Development call is part of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG 41), held April 17–25, 2026. Its aim is to connect Ibero-American series projects in development with producers, distributors, and streaming platforms.
Up to seven projects will be selected in fiction, animation, or documentary that have not yet been filmed. Each submission must include a full dossier, a teaser, and proof of at least 10% secured financing.
Selected projects will receive free access to one-on-one meetings with industry professionals, Industry accreditation for two representatives, a spot in the digital catalog, and up to four nights of accommodation. Participation is free, though travel and meals are the participants’ responsibility.
Applications are accepted exclusively online through Eventival, from August 21 to October 24, 2025 (6:00 pm, Mexico City time).
