Queretaro International Film Festival is proposed as an inclusive meeting point for the public, filmmakers, theorists and other professionals of film industry. Seeks to become a forum with global presence and stimulate film culture becoming a showcase to spread contemporary proposals from emerging and consecrated filmmakers.

Queretaro International Film Festival, in colaboration with Red Nacional de Arte, calls national and foreigners filmmakers to register their works in the competitive sections of the first edition, which will take place from 09 to July 13, 2017.

Fiction Shortfilms
Will be considered mexican or foreigners works, completed in 2015-2017, with a maximum runtime of 43 minutes (including end credits). Films made in any technique could apply, including animation.

Documentary Shortfilms
Will be considered documentaries from national and international filmmakers, with a maximum runtime of 43 minutes (including end credits), completed in 2015-2017. Pieces made in any technique could apply, including animation.

Tombstone Nights
National or international films of horror, suspense, science fiction and fantasy, with a runtime of no more than 120 minutes, completed in 2015-2017.


Music videos, commercial works, films that have been distributed on DVD or online for free without a password are not allowed.

All films can be registered at par in the online selection, which will be shown on the official website of the festival (http://queretarofilmfestival.org/) during the event dates. This selection can not be subject to competition, so the pieces in this category will be considered for awards only in the "Fiction Shortfilms", "Documentary Shortfilms" or "Tombstone Nights" categories.

Works will be received from the time of publication of the call for entries and until 23 hours (Mexico-City central time) of 29 March, 2017.

Entries must be submitted in their original language, with subtitles in Spanish or English if needed.

90% of the profits earned by the registration fees will be used to award each category in competition. The bag will be distributed equally to the three winner works. Only one work will be awarded per section.

In addition to the above, additional prizes of sponsors of the festival may be granted.

The Jury will be entitled to award other special mentions that they deemed for each category.

The works to form part of each section will be chosen by a selection committee, whose decision is final.

Selected works could be part of national and international exhibitions during 2016 and 2017. By participating, the applicant also accepts the use of frames or segments of the piece registered for the dissemination and development of printed or electronic materials such as invitations, posters, postcards or virtual catalog.

Exhibition formats during the festival are DCP, Bluray or Apple ProRes 422 (Digital Copy). Under no circumstances will participants be paid for any rights to exhibit the submitted work.

The list of selected films will be published in the official website of the festival on May 28, 2017.

Registration of works to the Queretaro International Film Festival constitutes acceptance of the rules of this call and renunciation of any claim or legal action against the Festival, Red Nacional de Arte, their representatives or affiliates.

Any matter not specified in this call will be resolved by the organizers.
