The Sax International Film Festival, in the province of Alicante, qualifier for the Goya Awards, arises through the initiative of the filmmaker and writer Miguel Herrero Herrero. Since its creation in 2006, the festival has had the support of the Sax City Council and is backed by: Generalitat Valenciana, Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), University of Alicante, (UA), Alicante Provincial Council,... In the festival the best short films and feature film projects compete in competition. The 17th Film Festival: Childhood and Adolescence – 2026 is a celebration featuring spaces for audiovisual exchange and education for children, adolescents, and young adults, with screenings, recreational activities, workshops, panels, and discussions. Its primary objective is to promote Bogotá as a pioneering city in Latin America in terms of ensuring that children and adolescents are visible, play a leading role, and enjoy full rights through audiovisual production. Participation in the exhibition and audiovisual content sharing activities is free of charge.

The Festival will take place from September 7 to 12, 2026.

As every year, all the students from all over the world (from Primary to University) can register their short films totally free, which will be displayed in Montevideo from September 7th to 13th.

Chulpicine began its work in 2002 with the first ever Itinerant Children & Youth Film Festival in Quito. The warm welcome that the project received allowed the festival to become an annual event during the months of July to September, bringing an educational and entertaining event at no cost, to sectors with few cultural activities.

Thanks to the positive reaction, Chulpicine became a cultural and educational non-profit foundation in June 2004.
