BIOBIOCINE Concepcion International Film Festival is an opportunity to gather, discuss and debate. The festival as a means for the promotion, diffusion and development of national and international cinematography.


Los jurados para las distintas categorías serán personas vinculadas a la industria audiovisual y cultural nacional e internacional, los que estarán inhabilitados para postular obras al certamen.

Los jurados de cada categoría emitirán un fallo inapelable y definitivo, otorgando el Tokicura, maximo galardón de BioBioCine, a los ganadores de los premios a continuación nombrados.

BioBioCine VIII
2020 Concepción International Film Festival
Organizes and produces: Imaginaria Audiovisual and Molotov Cine.


BioBioCine is a space for dialogue and reflection from Cinema. It aims to disseminate, promote, support and value the National and International Cinematography, from a Territory and Identity that is established as a context for this annual meeting, which convenes for its eighth version from June 1 to June 6, 2020 in the City of Concepción.

BioBioCine in its programming includes competitive and non-competitive categories of Feature Film and Short Film Fiction and Nonfiction, with a focus on author cinema, new filmmakers, experimentation, intercultural dialogue and first nations.


Feature Film Competition: National films or international films that are spoken or subtitled in Spanish with a minimum duration of 60 minutes.

Short Film Competition: National or international films that are spoken or subtitled in Spanish with a maximum duration of 30 minutes.


Made in Chile: National works from any region of the country that are spoken or subtitled in Spanish with a maximum duration of 120 minutes.

Made in Biobio: Works made in the BioBio region that are spoken or subtitled in Spanish with a maximum duration of 90 minutes.

Made for Children: National and international works spoken in Spanish that aim at the children's audience and the rescue of values such as equality, respect, integration and self-acceptance, completed after December 2016, in genres of fiction, documentary or animation. No duration limit.

CinExperience: National and international works that aim and dialogue languages such as dance, visual arts and performance, completed after December 2016. Maximum duration of 30 minutes.


You will be able to participate in any work completed from December 2018.

All registered works will be subjected to a pre-selection process by the festival's programming team.

All participants of this call must register on the FESTHOME web platform.

The selected films will be exhibited during the celebration of the Festival that will be held in June 2020 in the city of Concepción, according to the programming that will be determined once known the Official Selection.

The inscription of a work implies full acceptance of the bases. The signatory declares power and authorizes the dissemination of the work during the realization of the festival in Concepción.

Acceptance of the bases authorizes the production of the festival to a maximum of 3 non-profit exhibitions outside the framework of the festival under the brand "Official BioBioCine 2019 Exhibition". The organization undertakes to inform the place, day, time and context of the exhibition.


The official selection will be announced during the month of May 2020 on the website The selected works, by accepting these bases, authorize the use of image excerpts to promote the festival in different media.

The projection format for the categories Fiction, Documentary and Made in Chile feature films will only be accepted in DCP.

For the categories Documentary Short Film, Short Film Fiction, Made in BioBio, Made in Children and CinExperience copies will be accepted in DCP or Apple Prores HQ.

All selected movies must send a film file in .mov H264, in ProRes 422 or a Blu-Ray in addition to the exhibition copy.


The exhibition copy should be sent to the traffic office, located at Angol 765 Segundo Piso, Concepción, Biobio Region, Chile.

The shipping costs of the selected works will be the responsibility of the applicant. For shipments from abroad you must add "Cultural material with no commercial value". No shipping will be accepted for payment or pending customs duties.

The return of the exhibition copies will be the responsibility of the organization of the festival.

The contest is not responsible for damageors during the transfer of copies.
