The SITGES - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is a specialized, competitive fantastic genre Festival in accordance with the regulations established by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations). The Festival has also been declared a “Qualified Festival” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® in the United States. This means that those shorts winning the awards for “Best Short Film” in the Official Fantàstic Selection and “Best Short Film” in the Anima’t category will automatically be taken into consideration by the Hollywood Academy Awards® selection committee.

The 1st Raíces Film Festival was born within the Galician Brotherhood of Venezuela as a tribute to those who crossed the ocean to establish a new home. Inspired by the strength of Galician migration, this festival is a window into stories of descent, diaspora, and cultural fusion. INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR HISTORICAL FILMS FESTIVAL

The festival was first organized on December 5, back in 1970. Since then, over 1,000 films have participated in twenty editions of the festival. Since 2003, the festival has grown into an international one with the participation, so far, of 123 foreign authors with 201 films. The festivals are juried by: Prof. Dr. Bozhidar Manov, N.A. Zahari Zhandov, Prof. Nedelcho Milev, Prof. Dr. Totyu Totev, director Gencho Genchev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Donev and many other prominent filmmakers.

The festival is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the international association UNICA
