International documentary film festival | Globale Bogotá 2027

Bogotá D.C., Colombia

The Globale Festival was born in Berlin (Germany) in 2003, from which it spread to cities such as Warsaw (Poland), Montevideo (Uruguay), and, since 2011, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Bogotá (Colombia).

Globale Bogotá Film Festival – Critical and emancipatory perspectives seeks to generate spaces for denunciation, dialogue, awareness, and analysis of reality based on the themes set for each edition. The initiative aims to materialize proposals for the transformation of prevailing cultural, social, political, and economic models by understanding documentaries as critical tools that foster reflection and screening rooms as workshops for ideas and social and political work.

Faced with the growth of fascism and its cultural war against life and bodies, Globale Bogotá wants to contribute to strengthening organization, struggle, and collective action to continue building free, autonomous, and rebellious communities.

Right-wing political forces continue to advance across the world, hate speech targeting women is increasing, the denial and dehumanization of trans and non-binary people are rising, racism is growing stronger, genocides are an everyday occurrence, and every night we go to sleep with the certainty that what is happening in Gaza will soon reach our territories. In this scenario, reacting to a structure that seems unstoppable, invincible, and global becomes more difficult and discouraging every day. However, there are thousands of stories of resistance, survival, and a dignified life that illuminate and open paths to freedom; these are precisely the stories we want to screen.

Therefore, for the 14th edition of the Globale Bogotá Festival, which we will celebrate in 2027, we invite you to submit documentaries about organization, struggle, and action for autonomy, freedom, and a dignified life in different parts of the world.

We want to learn about these experiences because we know that all struggles leave us with lessons, and at this moment every lesson matters and deserves to be remembered.

It does not matter if it is recent material or from decades ago, nor whether it is a localized and small struggle; we are looking for examples that allow us to strengthen ourselves and know that many people keep hope and resistance alive. We need to hold on to the experiences of organization, struggle, and action to inspire us, accompany us, and remember that, despite everything, other worlds are always possible.
