SITGES - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is a magnificent showcase for current diverging tendencies in filmmaking which pays special atttention to the fantastic genre.




The Sitges Festival represents a journey through the most innovative fantastic productions, an encounter with horror stories which explore the subconscious, a compilation of the most recent animation works and an exciting vision of the film noir to come. At the same time, it also offers a reflection on new Asian cinema, a selection of new Catalan films and a meeting point for international distributors and producers.

Qualifying festival for the Oscar®, Méliès d'Or and Goya awards: Shorts that win the awards for «Best Short Film» in the Official Fantàstic Section and «Best Short Film» in the Anima’t section will automatically be taken into consideration by the Selection Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood for the Oscar® Awards. Best Short Film in the Official Fantàstic Section is automatically pre-selected for the Goya Awards from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Spain.

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is a competitive festival specialised in fantastic films, and organised in accordance with the regulations established by the FIAPF.

Show Me Shorts Film Festival's Call for entries closes next July, 1st

Show Me Shorts is a competitive festival, with a range of awards and more than 17,000 € in cash prizes. Respected and experienced judges from the film industry help decide the winners from a a selection of films themed and subjected in a wide range that includes horror, drama, animation, comedy, documentary, etc.



In its 13th edition, Show Me Shorts Film Festival will take place in more than 25 cinemas over all New Zealand. The festival awards will be presented at the Opening Night and Awards Ceremony at the country's two most prestigious picture palaces: The Civic in Auckland and The Embassy in Wellington. As part of the festival, resources, professional development and networking opportunities for aspiring short film makers will also be provided through Short Film Talks, Filmmaker Resources and Aotearoa Short Film Lab for screenwriters.

Send your film to Soria International Short Film Festival before June, 30th

Next June, 30th is the deadline to submit your film to Soria International Short Film Festival

Run by Soria's City Hall and Youth Council and by La Boca Espacio de Cultura, the 20th Soria International Short Film Festival will give out in excess of 17000 Euro in cash awards.



One of Soria International Short Film Festival's main goals is the promotion of short films as a cinematic expression, thus contributing to their reconognition, acknowledgment and value as an essential means of sharing cinematic culture.



One more year, the city of Soria will be fully committed with the short film festival and will be home of many cultural activities such as exhibitions, lectures, film creation courses, workshops and screenings in schools throughout the two weeks the festival will take place for, which makes it one of the longest short film festivals in the world.

Goya Awards®
Qualifying Festival: The short film awarded as Best Short Film, whether a fiction, an animation or a documentary short film, is automatically pre-selected for the Goya Awards from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Spain.

No te quedes sin enviar tu corto al Concurso Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes Versión Española – La 2 / SGAE

El programa “Versión Española” (TVE) y la Fundación SGAE (Sociedad General de Autores Españoles) convocan el XVII Concurso Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes “Versión Española – La 2 / SGAE”, orientado a la difusión y fomento de los nuevos autores españoles y de la comunidad Iberoamericana en el sector de la creación audiovisual.



El comité organizador del concurso realizará una primera selección, que será emitida en el programa de La 2 de RTVE durante el otoño de 2018 y un jurado compuesto por profesionales del cine español será el encargado de elegir los tres trabajos galardonados.

Premios en metálico y emisión en televisión y en RTVE.es: El ganador recibirá 8.000 euros, el segundo 4.000 euros y el tercero 2.000 euros. Además, los cortos seleccionados recibirán 1.200 euros en concepto de derechos de emisión por un pase (dos en el caso de ser premiado) en el programa “Versión Española” de La 2 y en RTVE.es.

El plazo de admisión de cortometrajes finaliza el 30 de junio. ¡No te quedes sin enviar el tuyo!

Send your film to Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) before April, 1st

Since 1998, the Guanajuato International Film Festival has become one of the most important platforms for young Latinamerican filmmakers and one of the best programs in Mexico, with a variety of competitions that include fiction, experimental, documentary and animation short films, fiction and documentary feature films, and virtual reality as its latest addition.



GIFF's 21st edition will take place in July, 2018, from the 20th through the 29th in the cities of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, Mexico. It will offer a wide range of screenings, workshops, panels, live shows, an international market now in development for the pitching of Mexican projects and numerous networking opportunities by bringing together new talents and renowned experts in the film industry.

Oscar® and BAFTA Awards qualifying festival: Recipients of the festival's prizes in the categories of Short Fiction, Short Documentary and Short Animation will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards® organised by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science.


As a BAFTA recognized film festival, all films accepted to the Guanajuato International Film Festival qualify to be considered for the British Academy Short Film Awards.
