FIC Gáldar International Film Festival

The Gáldar International Film Festival (FIC Gáldar) is one of the most important film festivals in the Canary Islands, and has concentrated in each of its editions the very best of national and international cinema. Organized by the City Council of Gáldar through its Council of Culture since 2013, this festival proposes a live event with important health measures to ensure complete safety and confort.

Our event as of today will be hosted on the original intended dates. We are closely following the rules and regulations set by the government of Spain and, since our hope is that cinemas are allowed to full capacity before our event, we are also open to open our venues in a limited capacity if that was mandatory. The Traveling School Film Festival (FIFE) is an annual event showcasing cinema, audiovisual media, and digital creation. It is an initiative of the Mboro International Center for Practical Training and the NGO Youth and Development, and relies on the partnership of the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of Senegal, the Jokkoo Consulting Agency, and several other stakeholders in Senegal and around the world.

To manage the regular organization of the film festival it initiated, an Economic Interest Group (GIE) was established: GIE Les Associés du Film d’École (School Film Associates), whose primary mission is the annual organization of the Traveling School Film Festival, FIFE.

The purpose of this call is to promote, on a competitive basis, an open contest to encourage cultural creation, helping to increase the quality of productions by creators in the audiovisual sector.

At the festival, called “Torrerífico,” the short films must have a horror theme, and the works selected as finalists will be screened, with the winners being announced. In this regard, the audience attending the event will vote for the audience award.

To this end, the Vice-Rectorate for Culture, Sport, and University Extension at the University of Alicante is organizing the Short Film Competition through the Torrevieja University Campus, in collaboration with the Torrevieja City Council's Youth Department and the Torrevieja Alternative Leisure Association.
