Sunny Side of the Doc 2025 is a leading international market dedicated to documentary and factual content, taking place from June 23 to 26, 2025 in La Rochelle, France. It brings together over 2,000 professionals from 60 countries, including producers, broadcasters, distributors, and digital platforms.
The event features 70+ sessions, thematic pitchings (Science, History, Culture, New Voices, and more), screenings, keynotes, and immersive experiences. It serves as a key venue for networking, co-productions, and global documentary sales.

Sunny Side of the Doc - Market
Syncro Lab 2025 is the training and development call of the Syncro Film Fest, aimed at people over 18 years old residing in Argentina. It is a short film script competition open to fiction, non-fiction, or hybrid projects, with a maximum length of 20 pages (PDF format, Courier 12, single spacing).
Submissions are open from February 3 to May 7, 2025, with an entry fee of ARS 7,000. Up to 10 scripts will be selected, and their authors will take part in group mentoring and development sessions during the festival, which will be held June 16–19, 2025 in Buenos Aires.
A jury will choose one winning script, which will receive ARS 500,000, plus professional post‑production services (5.1 mix, color grading, DCP and export deliveries), distribution by Hablemos de Langostas, and support for material delivery. Technical prizes must be used within one year.

Syncro Lab
The Galician Freaky Film Festival (GFFF), based in Spain, hosts an international call aimed at the development of short films within the fantastic genre. The initiative supports original projects in horror, science fiction, and other “freak”-related subgenres, specifically targeting works that are still in development and not yet produced.
The call is open to participants of any nationality, including individuals, production companies, film schools, and similar entities. Selected projects will take part in a pitching session, where they must present and defend their proposals before a professional jury during the festival.
The submission deadline is May 11, 2026, and the festival — including the pitching event — will take place from September 18 to 26, 2026.

GFFF - Freak Pitch
Mecal Lab is a professional short film development program held annually in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the renowned Mecal Pro Festival. The lab selects five short fiction projects (under 30 minutes) and provides filmmakers with intensive training and mentoring through seven specialized workshops. These cover topics such as crowdfunding, script doctoring, marketing and distribution, sustainable filmmaking, public funding, AI in cinema, and pitching strategies. Each selected project receives personalized coaching and a €3,000 grant to support the film’s production.
The 2025 edition will take place from June 26 to July 6. Applicants must submit a biography of the director and producer, a motivation letter, a full project dossier, and the short film’s script. The application fee is €15, and the deadline is May 15, 2025.

MECAL LAB
The scripts in development category aims to encourage and support fiction feature film projects in development and give new projects the opportunity to emerge. Promote the development and production of feature films that are made within the independent framework.
Fiction projects from Latin America and other regions, such as Europe, in development that have a treatment or the first version of the script may participate. The projects must be accompanied by a dossier that contains all the project information.
Requirements: Send the script of your feature film or the treatment of your project. Along with the dossier that must include: Logline, Technical sheet, Synopsis, Director photo, Director biofilmography, Director motivation, Producer photo, Producer biofilmography, Producer motivation, Stills of the project, Personal data.
