We are deeply grateful to each and everyone who has joined the communities of audiences of the festival from distant territories, thinking of them and them is that at least part of the program will be available on an online viewing platform, for access from Peru, Bolivia and Chile.
For this year the activities will be concentrated between August 28 and September 9. Being this call open between May 13 and June 10, through FESTHOME or as a direct application by registering your films and completing the application form available on the site aricadoc.cl

In the 2024 edition of the Quibdó Africa Film Festival, we delve into a unique and vibrant space where Africa and its Diaspora converge. This festival is more than just a series of film screenings – it's a comprehensive cultural experience featuring workshops, conferences, and artistic exhibitions. It's an odyssey that traverses the realms of the unknown, journeying through time – from past to present and into the future. This event is not just about showcasing films; it's about exploring a space that embodies both memory and representation, a space that prompts us to reflect on our history and the myriad ways we have evolved.
The 2024 festival is set to be a grand assembly of avant-garde Afro filmmakers, representing a dynamic artistic and cultural movement that boldly reimagines new identities through the fusion of art and historical fantasy. These creators engage in a vibrant dialogue within this artistic whirlwind, challenging and redefining conventional narratives.
At the heart of our vision for 2024 is the concept of "afrodisruptive" cinema. This genre is meant to startle and challenge, to be potent, impactful, and unsettling. It aims to disrupt the tranquility of the status quo, upending and reinvigorating it. This revolutionary artistic concept spans 360 degrees, offering a critical reexamination and reinterpretation of African traditions and narratives.
In essence, the Quibdó Africa Film Festival 2024 is not just an event; it's a cultural revolution, a reawakening of perspectives, and a celebration of the relentless spirit of Afro cinema and artistry.
About JSFF
JSFF is a 9 years lasting bi-City annual film festival recognized for its immersive themed cultural exchange platform premiering in Tokyo and Belgrade. This year, JSFF is part of the official ECoC (EU Capital of Culture) program at Novi Sad 2022, containing 6 days of condensed film and collateral art program, after which the screenings in Tokyo and Belgrade will be conducted. All authors of selected pieces will have the opportunity to be screened in front of a large audience under the light of ECoC in Novi Sad from November 5th – 10th.
JSFF 2022 THEME: CULTFRONTATION
"Space between two frames"
It is not wrong to say that the film industry as we know it today would not exist without the mutual influences of different cultures. Only one example of such artistic complementarity can be seen in the work of Fumio Kamei, who applied the editing techniques he acquired abroad in the format of haiku poetry, giving more importance and space to shots between the work itself.
In the spirit of the traditional concept of JSFF as a format of cultural exchange of film representatives of two cultures, CULTFRONTATION aims to further confront the author's views in the domain of the program category "Other? Europe". This category refers to the "culture of the different". By re-examining the dominant values in European culture and art, we come to the discovery of different, alternative, marginalized, minority, rebellious expressions.
For the first time since its founding, JSFF will expand the program into 3 categories united by the theme CULTFRONTATION:
1. JSFF - Will maintain the original selection of the films produced in Japan or Serbia (including conditional exceptions regarding the filming and crew background), which will present the views of authors on annual theme CULTFRONTATION, but also contemporary social phenomena in the spirit of "Other? Europe" program narrative of NOVI SAD 2022 - ECoC.
2. EAST ASIA – WEST BALKANS - According to the principle of traditional JSFF format, EA-WB will expand the field of CULTFRONTATION to the regional level which will screen works from the group of EA (East Asia) countries, as well as the countries of the Western Balkans.
3. JSFF - INTERNATIONAL - Global selection of films around the world that deal with the broader aspect of cultural confrontation. One of the terms of cultural confrontation implies confronting the values of an adaptable cultural environment with an extremely protective cultural environment. Also, every kind of re-examination of the canon, generalization, position in society, etc. it can be interpreted as a kind of CULTFRONTATION.
Special attention to:
- Premiere (All categories)
- ECOC Area background (JSFF INTERNATIONAL Category): 2023: Elefsina (Greece), Veszprém (Hungary) and Timisoara (Romania); 2024: Bad Ischl (Austria), Tartu (Estonia) and Bodø (Norway)
For three thousand years, the Jewish people have been scattered around the world. That is why Jewish cinema is created in many different countries, alongside with special festivals that select and showcase those films. The Jewish Film Festival® in Moscow became the first of its kind in Russia. It was founded in 2015 and has been held annually ever since.
What is the Jewish cinema, after all? It encompasses far more than films made by Jewish directors or films which star famous Jewish actors. The never-ending search for Jewish identity, assimilation of diasporas and philosophy of self-determination and separation of the Jewish people in a society, return to the past, glorification of national heroes and mourning of victims, challenges of today’s world and the problem of relevance and preservation of traditions - these and many other issues attract filmmakers of all countries and continents. By searching and selecting the best Jewish films during the course of the past year we have attempted to shape an answer to the question of what these rapidly changing ethnic-themed films really are. Moscow, a large metropolitan area, a place where many cultures and nationalities live side-by-side, is one of the world’s most fitting locations for a festival that represents a dialogue of national communities.
The MJFF holds screenings of the most important and resonant Jewish films of the latest years. At the centre of the Festival is the Feature Films Competition Program, which is complemented by screenings of documentary films, short films and documentary shorts (as part of either competition programs or special screenings), as well as by discussions with experts on different topics raised in films and critics who specialize in Jewish cinema.
CURT’ARRUDA - Arruda dos Vinhos Annual Film Festival aims to present national and foreign cinema, stimulating film production through the attribution of awards for best rural short film and the best short film from Arruda dos Vinhos.
CURT’ARRUDA is a film festival focused on rurality. It is organized by Cultura deGrau – Cultural Association.
