The festival's mission is to exhibit the best films from the around the world and create a safe haven festival event for filmmakers and cineastes to co exist and learn from each other. Our vision is to be the festival that links independent films to the proper audience and to find distribution during our event.
Accepting full-length features, short films and documentaries from professionals and amateurs alike, SohoFilmFest will hold screenings, panels and host social events and other networking opportunities for everyone involved. Leading figures from all disciplines of the film industry including distributors and media will be in attendance.
The Palencia International Films Festival is organised by the Association Friends of the film and the Popular University of Palencia.
This edition is number 34, and during all these years, our philosphy has been considering cinema a tool of development and social cohesion.
Our festival colaborates with the Spanish Cinema Academy, and its a qualifyer festival for the GOYA shortfilm Awards.
In addition, the short film awarded the first prize by the jury at the MCIP (the Milagros Alcalde Award) will go directly to the Short List finalist of the FUGAZ Awards, making up the short list of films that will then be evaluated for nomination by the commission that awards these prizes each year.
The APOX film festival brings together international independent documentaries from around the world. All entries are promoted through our social media and website with a dedicated page with synopsis, film stills, and trailer.
For this purpose, we recommend that projects must be fully entered, including film stills, production pictures, downloadable posters, and trailers or teasers.
All projects officially selected in each season receive the Independent APOX Awards laurel and certificate.
The 2020 selection included over 200 films, of which 65 films were shown, from over 25 countries around the world. The goal is to promote independent film directors and to stimulate interest in their work. Also, the goal of the festival is to promote young film directors and film works, and accordingly, in 2021 we plan to have a young/student film program during the APOX film festival, which will take into account the works of young directors under 22 and give them the opportunity to realize their dreams through our workshops. and may in the future be part of a new generation to be screened at the festival main program. The orientation is on the promotion of the culture of the island of Losinj, the promotion and the opportunities that the island offers, an oasis of peace for big dreams on the small island of the Adriatic. We are here to enable you to show yourself, to show your films to the world, and to promote you, young and old independent directors, screenwriters, producers. Why sign up and be a part of this story, because nowhere is it like in Losinj. By connecting with other festivals across Europe, we create an interesting cohesion of documentary film and share with each other the works that won awards at the festivals, and thus further promote and move borders, interstate and ensure greater and better representation.2021 concept is to promote young directors movies in the morning show, and top documentary movies in the evening show. We will present movies in a 7 day period, and we hope to have at least 80 movies. 2021 we will have 2 positions, 2 cinemas. And for 2021 we have prepared 4 prices, one for the best movie director of feature documentary movie od 1000,-EUR, best debut movie with the reward price of 700,-EUR, for best young director movie in the program Young director APOX fest will get a scholarship to up 2000,-EUR for a new film project or for schooling, and the best short documentary movie of 500,-EUR.
During the premiere and opening of the festival will be opened in cinema Mali Lošinj, the red carpet for VIP guests of the festival will be planned, and before the first film by the mayor and representatives of the Association will be presented the program of the Festival and all Logged on to the festival itself. All participants, viewers, and representatives will receive a specially designed festival program with a movie schedule and a short description of each film individually. For the purpose of the better presentation of the festival, a final concert will be organized at the end of the festival and the award ceremony on the stage in Veli Lošinj. It is also aimed at giving young directors an option to experience the thrill of making a film through film workshops and that the film's parents, as well as viewers, have the opportunity to see on the big canvas.

Next to the competition programs Festival is also presenting side film programs, along with Industry, a unique training and networking platform which hosts an educational and practical program with numerous masterclasses, pitching sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and round tables held by some of most respectful names in the film industry.

FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival is an all-encompassing celebration of the new tendencies of world cinema. The event focuses on a competitive and non-competitive showcase of the most promising new figures and works from around the globe.
The 21st edition of the festival will take place between the 21st of June and the 29 June 2025, in the seaside town of Espinho (Portugal).
The selection is divided into several categories which include Feature Film and Short Film competitions in the Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental Non-Narrative formats, as well as content adequate for children and teenagers. The event also includes non-competitive sections that range from retrospectives to showcases that can be Shorts, Features or Series.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are accepting films under the following formats:
A) Fiction and Non-Fiction feature films (minimum length is 55 minutes) from directors who are on their first or second feature-length project, regardless of age.
B) Fiction, Documentary, Animation, and Experimental Short films (up to 54 minutes of duration) from directors who have completed no more than two feature films, regardless of age.
C) Fiction, Documentary, Animation, and Experimental Series (up to 55 minutes of duration) from directors who have completed no more than two feature films, regardless of age.
Candidates must choose one of the available submission categories. Do not worry if your film fits different categories (Ie: Hybrid productions), as all submissions will be considered for the different competitions. If your film is also eligible for the NEXXT competition (focused on academic productions) but you wish the film to be considered for all other competitions please mention in the comment section of the submission the academic institution where the film was produced. Throughout the years' FEST has selected for its feature film competitions films such as Celine Song’s “Past lives”; Ainhoa Rodríguez´s "Mighty Flash"; Teodora Mihai´s “The Civilian”; Anders Ølholm and Frederik Louis Hviid with "Enforcement"; Julie Lecoustre, Emmanuel Marre´s “Zero Fucks Given”; P.S. Vinothraj “Pebbles”; Eugen Jebeleanu´s “Poppy field”; and Valdimar Jóhannsson´s “Lamb”, all of this on the fiction side, then in the Documentary side, Karima Saidi´s "A way Home", Michał Edelman´s "Last Knights Of The Right Side", Franz Böhm´s "Dear Future Children" among many others.
FEST’s Short Film sections are known for its wide variety of styles and filmic visions, having been throughout the years a platform for the launch of new artists such as Govinda Van Maele (Luxembourg), Christos Massalas (Greece), Mati Diop (France), Adriano Valerio (Italy), Patrick Vollrath (Germany), Ninja Thyberg (Sweden), Manuel Abramovich (Argentina), Daria Belova (Russia), Simon Mésa Soto (Colombia), Aga Woszczynska (Poland), Jela Hasler (Switzerland), as well as hundreds of other up-and-coming filmmakers.

Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in Portugal, reaching its 33rd edition in 2025.
Assuming as the main objective the promotion and diffusion of cinematographic and audiovisual works, selected according to quality criteria, Curtas Vila do Conde focuses on the discovery of new films and filmmakers and also on the recognised legacy of Cinema.
Short film competitions with animations, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films, and music videos, produced in 2024 or 2025, no longer than 60 minutes (exception made, under 30 minutes of duration, for Curtinhas – youth and children; My Generation – competitive section aimed for teenagers; Take One! – student films; and Music Videos), preferably with subtitles in Portuguese or English, are admitted to the various competitions.
Side programs, to be progressively announced, will highlight not only a selection of worldwide contemporary short films but also the relations between shorts and features, music and film, or art and cinema.

Petit Plan is a film festival exclusively geared for high school audiences, with free screenings and discussions on the films.
The festival takes place once a year for 5 days and more than 10.000 students have enjoyed the films since the festival's beginning in 2016.
Screenings are usually with a theme, for example: Independent cinema, immigration issues, xenophobia, the Holocaust, etc.
For the next edition of Petit Plan in February 2021 which will be titled Petit Plan: Europa II we will only be accepting short films from Europe.

How we do?
Choose one or more categories and submit your short film.
Usually, our submissions start on 1th-4th of the month and end on the same day next month.
EACH submitted film will receive a short review from our judge team (on request)
PLEASE NOTE: We don't screen the films online! The members of the jury watch the films online and they choose the Official Selections.
In 5-7 days after the deadline day for submissions we publish the Official Selections list and we notify the filmmakers via e-mail.
During the next 5 days our members of the jury decide the winners for each category.
After that we publish the Winners list and we notify filmmakers by e-mail. The lists are published on social media and on our dedicated website: shortshotfest.com
In the last week of the month we screen the awarded films in art - center "Efir" in the heart of Moscow.
From August, 2021 we are OPEN for new season 2021/2022.

This Series Festival, called Queer Season, seeks to become a place where to expose the importance of making the LGTB + collective visible in a natural and real way through the series that are broadcast in our country and its great influence on the millennial generation as well as on the rest of society.
In this edition we want to open the call to new and young creators who have projects of series with an LGTB + theme and can present their works to the contest where a committee will be in charge of evaluating and selecting the best works that will be broadcast during the festival under certain criteria.
FEMCINE was created to discover and support the work done by female filmmakers and to share films with gender-based subjects with a broader audience. FEMCINE invites female directors from Chile and the rest of the world to participate in one of its three competition categories: International Feature Length Competition, International Short Film Competition, and the Chilean Film School Short Film Competition.

2020 has sure been an unprecedented year unlike any before. Many Arts & Cultural institutions Including movie theaters were impacted by the pandemic caused by Covid-19. As a result, many festivals in 2020 were forced to re-imagine, and restructure their format. Facing new regulations and guidelines set by New York City and the State, Festival of Cinema managed to convert the 2020 festival into a Drive-In Theater, becoming one of only a handful of film festivals around the country to hold a live event. As a film festival created by filmmakers for filmmakers, our goal is to bring your film to the big screen. While 2021 hasn’t guaranteed the opening of theater venues at full capacity, the team at Festival of Cinema NYC promises to continue to work hard in creating an event that filmmakers and the public can attend in person.
