Berriozar Films Kultural “Lantzeluze” announces the “15th International Festival of Social Themed Short Films” that will take place in Berriozar.
Jiffy Louvre II: Leave Worry Behind (Again)
After a two-year hiatus, the Short Shorts Festival at Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta GA returns for its seventh iteration and the second juried by Atlanta artist and Welch School of Art & Design director Joe Peragine. The title, originally used in Short Shorts 2019, is a mash-up of high (the Louvre, the museum of museums) and low (Jiffy Lube, purveyors of the drive- through lube job whose slogan is “leave worry behind”). The title encapsulates the wide-ranging aesthetic goal of this festival. Any budget, any genre, any story is welcome, provided it gives us a brief respite from these screwed up times we live in. We are open to off-beat, non-narrative, and experimental work.
Short Shorts film festival will have an outdoor live screening at Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Whitespace is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Atlanta and across the southeast, fostering an immersive environment of free-expression, intimacy, and dialogue. There will also be a second outdoor live screening on the campus of Georgia State University on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022.
Joe Peragines’s paintings, sculpture and animation have been presented in galleries, contemporary art spaces and museums throughout the USA and internationally. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Peragine lives with his family in Atlanta and is currently the Director of the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University.
Hello there,
Coronavirus and the Covid-19 disease changed the world in so many different ways. For the last two years — 2021 and 2022 — we had our festival online, which was a new experience for us. It all went well, and instead of a small audience at one venue, we had the audience around the world! That was one big benefit, but we missed having people together, and talk about the films and make new friends.
Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, we are still unsure of holding the 18th edition of the Free Spirit Film Festival (2022) at certain venue like in the past. If gathering still remains as an issue, we will host it online again.
If the pandemic situation changes, and we could hold the festival at certain venue, we will announce when and where once we have those finalised. Submissions will be opened in June.
Be safe!
Sincerely yours,
Lobsang Wangyal
Festival Director

Being a dissident in a square society represents a challenge, and not only that, it allows seeking alternatives to get out of that box. For us, being dissidents has meant fighting against stigma and discrimination, however, that has given us the opportunity to open paths that have been difficult to walk, but in each fall we have found people who help us move forward.
In audiovisual production, as in our lives, being a dissident has meant looking for other ways of telling stories, other ways of bringing them to the screen. Creative ways to talk about sensitive issues, or to sensitize ourselves to reality. In any case, dissident production has been a constant since the constant innovation of technology and, in the context of the pandemic, other ways of telling stories have emerged.
We invite you to join us on this journey and enjoy the dissident production.

Utsav – Celebration or Festival
We have started this LGBTQ+ & Independent Film Festival for cinema lovers. This film festival will be a celebration of creativity and ideas. After a successful completion of the first edition of the festival, we are now ready for the second edition.
LGBTQ+ cinema globally as well as in India has become an important part of the film industry. OTT platforms have increased the reach of these films to a larger audience. Of course, these avenues are mostly for mainstream cinema and filmmakers. There are a lot of independent film makers who also have interesting stories to present. We hope that this festival will be a platform for these independent film makers and their wonderful stories.
Each film has various components – story, script, cinematography, editing, sound, music, acting – to name a few. In this festival, we wish to acknowledge all aspects of film making and creativity. Thus, we hope that film makers will be encouraged to submit their work to showcase any or all aspects of their creativity.
Not all film makers, particularly independent filmmakers, and students, have the luxury of large budgets and wonderful locations for filming. We appreciate these limitations and would like to provide a platform to these filmmakers. We would encourage first time filmmakers who would like to present their work to submit to the festival.
It is also important to learn from each other’s experiences. During the festival, we hope to have panel discussions with filmmakers, writers, editors, sound engineers, cinematographers, musicians, and audience as well. This healthy exchange will enrich the experience.
The first two days of festival will be for LGBTQ+ cinema, and the next two days will be for other independent films in this edition of the festival.

Dear students, filmmakers, and cinema lovers,
We are thrilled to announce the fourteenth edition of FICU LANTERNA!
This year marks the beginning of a journey that goes beyond the mere projection of images; we want to dive even deeper, exploring what lies beyond the screen.
This year's theme, *Beyond the Screen*, aims to focus on the emotions, sensations, and connections that cinema evokes, also highlighting the aspects of film projections that we often fail to see. We want to demonstrate that cinema is not just about the visual; it is a true experience that transcends the limits of the screen.
Cinema is an art that can reach both the mind and heart of people, placing importance not only on what can be seen, but also on what can be felt.
Cinema is a universal language that communicates with everyone, regardless of cultural, linguistic, or social barriers. It is such a powerful medium that through it, we can explore the complexity of the human being in all its wonder, and with this edition, we aim to celebrate its power to go beyond the surface and explore human emotions.
We invite you to participate in this edition of the festival, share your vision, and be part of an event that continues to transform the way we experience cinema.
With deep gratitude and excitement, we await you at FICU LANTERNA 2024, to discover together what lies beyond the screen.
Best wishes,
Carlotta de Pompeis
