The Festival on the Cinema was born in 2020, when many actors and film directors were left unemployed or suspended from their work in the arts due to the crisis caused by the pandemic. That's when the project began, interviewing them via Zoom to learn a little about their activities, with the intention of supporting them during this difficult time and giving them the opportunity to showcase their work while we were all locked down during the crisis. Sharing something positive was always something that kept us hopeful that everything would return to normal.

The event will take place from August 17 to 21, 2026, in the city of Belo Jardim, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco.
Beyond its cultural dimension, Cine Jardim establishes itself as a training-oriented festival, especially dedicated to students from Elementary School (levels I and II) and High School, from both public and private schools in Belo Jardim. By bringing young audiences closer to Latin American cinema, the festival seeks to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and the development of a more conscious relationship with the images and narratives that shape everyday life.
More than just a film showcase, the festival serves as a space for encounter and reflection, allowing participants to access more complex and profound perspectives on the diverse realities that make up Latin America.
Keeping this window open in the interior is essential to broaden horizons, spark dialogue, and foster the recognition of other ways of existence—both real and possible.
On the white screen, not only images are projected, but also paths for exchange, listening, and transformation. In this way, Cine Jardim reaffirms its commitment to building a more sensitive, diverse, and inclusive world—one that feels closer to all of us.

Images are a universal language with the power to tell stories, evoke emotions and transport the viewer to unimaginable places. In the context of caving and canyoning, cinematography becomes an essential tool for revealing the beauty and mysteries of both the underground world and the canyons and ravines of the mountains.
The depths of caves and canyons offer a unique landscape which, hidden from
the eyes of those who do not venture inside, finds in the audiovisual medium a privileged vehicle for conveying knowledge, emotion and values, and for enabling them to discover impressive rock formations, underground rivers and exceptional ecosystems, revealing an environment that defies the imagination. These images not only capture the majesty of nature, but also highlight the fragility of these spaces
and the need to protect them.
Caving, cave diving and canyoning are not merely sporting or technical
disciplines, but also foster fundamental human values: self-improvement, collaboration, perseverance, teamwork and respect for nature are essential to these
experiences, and for this reason, in this competition, we seek not only to reward creativity and technical quality, but also to highlight the stories behind each image.
We want the submitted works to serve as a bridge between the viewer and a
sense of wonder for these natural environments, promoting a message of
conservation and respect for the earth we inhabit.
In this spirit, and with a view to continuity, the Espeleo Canyoning Cinema ASEDEB was launched in 2026, a competition that seeks to recognise and promote audiovisual works reflecting exploration, adventure and the human values associated with caving and canyoning, bringing them closer to society and contributing to their responsible dissemination.

The 18th Edition of the Addis International Film Festival (AIFF). As Ethiopia's established social activist, Initiative Africa will be hosting a five-day documentary film festival starting May 15th to May 19th, 2024, bringing more than 30 local and international movies, under the themes of Action for Peace, Security, and Reconciliation, Gender Equality and Inclusivity, Food and Environmental Security, and Health Care which will be taking place at the Alliance Ethio-Française, Hager Fikir Theater, Goethe-Institut Äthiopien and Italian Cultural institute in Addis Ababa.
The audience of the festival are mostly the youth and educated community who have the courage to change their society. We screen the films for free with no payment required for entrance.
We organize this festival in order to create a new reason to produce and introduce films and any other work of art that concentrate on the world’s problems and riches, and to pioneer the creation of a free platform and reward these works. We live in an era where too much information, and input that cannot be considered as information flow at a disconcertingly rapid pace in every plausible channel. We organize this festival so that we could all seek what is more local and smaller, and more importantly the one that is true and genuine together.
The ecological problems are increasing and becoming more and more varied; however, we also witness hope-inspiring developments. We organize this festival in order to create a platform that nurtures this hope. We hope that through our festival, the residents of Bozcaada, farmers, producers, scientists, artists, and all our guests will be informed about the current technological developments, environmental disasters and innovations, the most recent documentary techniques and also about each other’s existence. We hope that our festival will contribute to nurture solidarity.
