The Encuentro Hispanoamericano de Cine y Video Documental Independiente: Contra el Silencio Todas las Voces is a space to travel through various realities and aesthetics of Mexico and Latin America.

Contra el Silencio it has its first edition in the year 2000, when practically the only film festivals that existed in Mexico were Guadalajara (1986) and Guanajuato (1998), and in general, at Latin America the situation was not very different, there were very few spaces that disseminated and gave recognition to the social documentary.

From this same spirit and commitment to promote and support the documentary creation is that we come pleasantly to the twelfth edition to be held from November 4 to 12, 2022. In which we will have projections of the competitive sections, special functions, as well as academic activities and of training that promote criticism and reflection.

All types of short film are welcome to enter with awards for: action, drama, sci-fi, docs, horror, comedy, experimental and everything in between (a full list of award categories is provided, below). All films must be under 45 minutes.

A major supporting partner of the festival is Craghoppers, the global outdoor clothing brand, which awards The Craghoppers Film Prize, one of the largest cash prizes available for short films. The first prize is £20,000 ($26,000) in cash with a second prize of £5,000 ($6,500) and additional awards of £5,000 ($6,500) for the best social impact film and £2,000 ($2,600) for the best student film. In addition, there are various in-kind awards from sponsors.

Selected films get the option of various paid distribution opportunities including international TV, major trains, hotels and airlines. Distribution is optional and entirely up to the filmmaker.

As well as cash prizes, winners can get help with future film projects in the form of discounted rates from partner firms (such as production houses) and mentoring from senior commercial film and business executives. The festival also introduces filmmakers to funding sources for future projects and offers publicity across a wide range of media (print and social) so enter today!

IntimaLente Festival is intended to promote documentary cinema with particular attention to anthropological topics and methodologies. The international character of the festival is both desirable and unavoidable because of the specific character of the discipline and of the medium of film itself. In this inaugural round, we have chosen not to focus on specialist themes but instead to offer an array of work representing different filmic idioms and geographical areas of interest. The aim is to offer both professional and non-professional viewers a broad (if necessarily incomplete) spectrum of possibilities. We believe that this choice not only will trigger a wide exchange of ideas and themes but will also generate an extensive collaborative perspective. We have made it a core principle to select topics of general interest exhibiting both thematic diversity and relevance to the interests of non-specialist viewers. We have rejected mere exoticism as outdated and unnecessary and have aimed at a selection that, via the intimacy of the camera’s lens, extends the local and the particular to a perspective that is truly contemporary and global.
