Rome Prisma Film Awards

Join the most popular IMDb qualifying Monthly Festival in Europe!
+850 five stars reviews, thousands of submissions from 150+ countries in the world. Now with monthly Italian press coverage!

Founded in Rome in 2018, in five years Rome Prisma Film Awards has grown into one of the most community driven festivals, hosting more than 150 directors from all over the world presenting films that are driven by an independent mentality, brave storytelling and innovation of forms.

$105.000 WORTH OF PRIZES IN SERVICES EVERY YEAR

In the monthly film festivals panorama, many events are unethical and non-transparent, providing minimal value and grabbing money from filmmakers without committing to promote and showcase their work the best they can. We are working on Rome Prisma Film Awards to change this system for the better, creating an always improving stage-by-stage monthly festival that revolves around live screenings in Rome and around the creation of a community of filmmakers from all over the world, with submission costs within reach of everyone. Your film can participate with other independent movies and with world-class talents in a fair competition where everybody starts on the same line.

WE LOOK FOR MEANING, WE LOOK FOR UNITY, WE LOOK FOR BALANCE

Hosted by Cinema Azzurro Scipioni, in its first year it saw Silvano Agosti as the president of the jury, a legendary italian director that has worked alongside the greatest italian professionals like Morricone, Storaro, Piovani and many others. Over the course of its second year it moved to Cinema dei Piccoli, one of the oldest movie theaters of Rome in the heart of Villa Borghese park since 1934. Since 2020 the artistic director Marcello Di Trocchio stepped in, creating a series of very popular online screenings on Twitch during the pandemic. In 2021, the festival came back live at Cinema Farnese, one of the oldest and most prestigious cinema in Rome, where it currentyl holds its screenings every four months.

Our winning films have gone all the way to A-tier festivals like the short film "August Sky" by Jasmin Tenucci, winner of the Special Mention at Cannes Film Festival 2021, "Censor of Dreams" by Leo Berne and Raphaël Rodriguez, shortlisted in the 2022 edition of the Academy Awards, Nate Milton’s "Eli" from the official selection of Sundance Film Festival, "Kiss the Ground", the Netflix documentary starring Woody Harrelson, Patricia Arquette and Jason Mraz, and many others.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES WITH OTHER MONTHLY FESTIVALS

▪ Our festival has a stage-to-stage competition that revolves around live screenings every two months.
▪ We have adopted an Ethics and Transpacency policy you will find at https://www.romeprismafilmawards.com/ethics/.
▪ We won't ask for multiple submissions in different categories. One submission is valid for all the 24 awards. We won't charge a hundred dollars for your submission.
▪ We will watch your movie with care and respect.
▪ All submissions get more than $40 in discounts in our partner festivals during the next months. So it is practically free!
▪ The most winning films, filmmakers and screenwriter stay in our Hall of Fame © forever.

Festival Oodaaq #12

Rennes, France

L’OEil d’Oodaaq is a French non-profit organisation that researches on video art, moving images and other forms of images in contemporary art.

L’OEil d’Oodaaq will be organising in 2023 its 12th Oodaaq Festival.

It will be held in May in Rennes.

It will be composed of: exhibitions, screenings, performances, lectures, moments of encounter.
The festival questions the place of images in today’s society and the way artists reflect on this issue. L’OEil d’Oodaaq is interested in all states of existence of images: construction, circulation, reception, as well as its recent mutations in the digital age. The organisation refers to the term of « nomadic and poetic images » in order to emphasise the moving, multiple and reflective nature of the images it is interested in.

For the 2023 edition, the festival will be mainly devoted to video art with a particular interest in works that question contemporary struggles (ecofeminism, feminism(s), social and ecological justice...). The videos, at the very heart of its programme, will be presented in screenings of programmes with several works, in exhibitions, autonomous installations, windows, and lounges.

Every year, in order to enrich its research and reflections, the Festival also gives carte blanche to local and international partners.

The selected videos can be showed in screenings, exhibitions, installations, etc.

This open call relates of course to our festival, but also to all the events that we organize or in which we participate throughout the year. Indeed, apart from its annual festival, L’Oeil d’Oodaaq implements and / or takes part in more than twenty events each year. By applying for this open call, you are submitting your work for Oodaaq Festival and / or for events offered by the association throughout the year, in Brittany, nationally and internationally. Each broadcast is done in agreement with the artists, is framed by a contract and is the subject of a remuneration (calculated for 1 broadcast or on a lump sum basis).

The “Juna Kino” International Young Film Festival is an exhibition platform that brings together, based on an annual call, short films, documentaries, reports and music videos made by children and adolescents from all over the world. It is an independent cultural initiative conceived and developed by the Paso Libre Collective, whose objective is to articulate cultural and artistic projects that directly affect the community.
This festival arises as a response to the need to provide a space for younger creators, who see the cinema as a way to express their concerns.

At present, young people are highly attracted to audiovisual materials, so this characteristic will be used in their favor to involve them in the problems and themes that they generally do not perceive or attend to because they do not consider them of interest.

In 2016 we had our first edition, with more than 20 short films that were collected around the world. An audience of more than 12,000 people was reached, with 6 screenings at the Cine Morelos and 15 screenings in secondary schools in the state.

WEST SIDE MOUNTAINS DOC FEST

The 5th International Documentary Festival of Epirus or as it became known WEST SIDE MOUNTAINS DOC FEST started in 2017 with its first edition in 2018 and the second in 2019 in the Municipality of Karaiskaki of Orini Arta. The main thought and intention of those of us who were involved in the establishment of the Festival, was the creation of an important cultural event, in one of the poorest, but also most inaccessible areas of Europe. An area of incredible natural beauty, which starts from Agrafa and the valley of Acheloos and reaches almost to Arta. The festival completely achieved its goals and so its third edition in 2020 was the one that established it, that developed spatially and spread throughout almost all of Epirus. A spread that became a reality with the participation of the Municipalities of Karaiskaki, Central Tzoumerka, North Tzoumerka, Pogoni, Preveza and Arta. The support of the Society of Greek Directors, many associations, Brotherhoods, local Federations, the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, but also other organizations contributed to this, with the most important development being the granting of the Ministry of Culture for this fourth period.

So we can be proud that in four seasons our Festival has managed to attract more than a thousand films from more than 120 countries. And we still have a lot to do. Finally, it should be noted that with hard work and minimal resources we managed to make the festival loved by the people and every day more and more, to be established as an internationally renowned cultural event, away from the big urban centres. We have managed to strengthen the view that even the most remote areas could appropriate and integrate the culture of cinema and especially documentaries. We managed to prove that on the occasion of this festival, opportunities can be created for the development of cultural institutions, as well as alternative tourism in our country. A place that needs to take a step forward and free itself from the degraded cultural "status" that haunts it and holds it hostage to bad taste and the commercialization of absolutely nothing.

The tiniest bee hummingbird flits up to five hundred miles in its one continuous flight. Our festival, Hummingbird International Short Film Festival, represents this small bird's ardent determination of transcending boundaries, cooing over the confluences of divergent cultures. Our predominant motto is to seek out vehement, vogue, pertinent short films from across the globe and to showcase the narratives that resonate surpassing geographical lines.

In 2021 - 1st edition, Hummingbird officially collaborated with the British Council and received a BFI Flare package. The festival accepted 150+ films from 30+ countries across the globe. Last year, the festival authorities focused on the LGBTQ category including curated children's films, a few premiers, and a BFI Flare Package but this year they brought more than just one category on the platter.

2nd edition (2022) the film festival has officially partnered with Alliance Française to showcase the best of cinematic narratives for the viewers. It received 200+ films from more than 43 different countries in various categories. The film festival has officially selected 50+ films in exclusive categories including Fiction, LGBTQ+, Animation, Documentary, Video Art, and Human Rights. In 2022 we screened Nauha at the opening which was officially selected at La Cinef of the Cannes Film Festival, 2022. Hummingbird ended with the Clermont Ferrand Special Jury award-winning closing film “La Traction Des Poles” curated by Alliance Française.

Much like the little migratory bird Hummingbird is determined to evolve into a platform for viewers and budding filmmakers. The Hummingbird’s vision is to create a space for all, as the festival founder/ director Rajan Nath said, “The festival’s vision is to strike a rich cultural exchange and give audiences access to global cinema and its subsequent cultural pandora. We also aim to support the representation of indigenous cinema and help young filmmakers understand how international audiences see it.”

HIFF is aware that cinema holds a universal language and that is why they are motivated to provide you with the purest experience of watching global narratives. At our Third edition, we're all set to welcome shorts from all over the world. Bring in your beautiful little wonders.
