Made in Canary Islands Film Festival

Comarca Noreste de la isla de La Palma (Puntallana, Barlovento y San Andrés y Sauces), Spain

The cinema is more than alive in the Canary Islands, and more in the island of La Palma.

The Festival of Cinema made in the Canary Islands (#MadeInSecuencia27) is a festival that was born with the aim of promoting and disseminating audiovisual creation through sportsmanship and teamwork, both among fans and professionals, throughout the Canarian archipelago and arises as an initiative of the Cultural Association La Farola Films and its youth section known as the Infant and Youth School of Cinema "Sequence 27".

FECICA is celebrated between the municipalities of Puntallana, Barlovento and San Andrés y Sauces under a written and visual motto that changes in each edition.

with the image of the Punta Cumplida de Barlovento Lighthouse next to the Los Tilos Bridge of San Andrés y Sauces and the Monument to Salto del Enamorado de Puntallana.

The Festival has two competitive sections of the event: the 'General Section', which has short films shot throughout the Canary Islands and the 'Section 32 hours', in which filming takes place on site (between Puntallana, Windward and San Andrés and Sauces ), within the duration of the show itself, in just one and a half days, making this section the hardest cinematographic creation challenge in the Canary Islands. We also have the 'Media and Feature Films Section', a non-competitive section to promote the latest feature films and medium films made in the Canary Islands.

Thanks to this festival, which pursues the coexistence between participants, audience and young people of the Film School, more than the competition between them, the island of La Palma is already a "movie island", which has five festivals more audiovisuals (Festivalito, Tiempo Sur, TazaCortos and La Palma Anime Film Festival). All of them collaborate with this Film Show and are completed with other audiovisual contests throughout the island territory.

It is a festival in which the jury is the children and youth of the association, something unique in our country and that makes it different from other festivals. A festival open to everyone for everyone, without discrimination.

That is our festival. Welcome to the Festival of Cinema made in the Canary Islands SEQUENCE 27!

International Shorts Film Festival

Now in it's fourth year, the International Shorts Film Festival (ISFF) is a not-for-profit festival promoting short films along with the filmmakers who make them. IWe are dedicated to the celebration of short films.

After the inaugural festival screenings in Melbourne, Australia, in 2018 the concept of the ISFF is to offer additional screenings of winning films in cities around the world.

Judging takes place in November by a panel of judges, with winners announced in December. The festival is open to all filmmakers.

Films are selected and judged on two criteria; the quality of the work as well as the your ambition. A panel of three judges carefully review every film. We are full inclusive, do not censor work and have no other restrictions on your submission. We encourage all filmmakers to submit their films, regardless of ethnicity, religion or worldview. All genres are extremely welcome!

All films accepted into 'Official Selection' will be nominated for awards, and we will screen all the winning films in front of a live audience.

Amazing stories and independent short films deserves a larger audience, which is why International Shorts was born. We look forward to your participation as filmmakers in 2018.

Biodiversity loss is one of the main threats we face today. Species are disappearing at levels never seen in human history. Climate change, habitat loss, pollution, overexploitation of resources, the appearance of invasive alien species are the main threats that many species face today.

The human being is the main cause of these threats, but the power to reverse these extinction processes is also in our hands. Conservation policies and measures have saved many species in recent years. Communicating and raising awareness about the main problems facing biodiversity is necessary in order to continue advancing. Many times the environmental problems that are treated from education, awareness and the work that is done in research centers do not reach the general public, for this reason using alternative media such as art or culture can be of great help to reach to more audiences.

Although the efforts to communicate the scientific results obtained in universities and research centers are evident, using the cinema as a communication vehicle is currently a little used bet.

At the "CINECO - International Film and Ecology Festival" we bring together scientists, filmmakers, conservation associations and the general public.

The main objective of the meeting is to highlight the role of cinema in communication and awareness of environmental problems. The specific objectives are:

1. Communicate and disseminate environmental problems to society through audiovisual pieces.

2. Establish a collaboration network between filmmakers and scientists for the development of future projects.

La Palma, the green heart in Canary Islands, is suffering a catastrophe generated by the vulcanic eruption in Cumbre Vieja. This hadn't happened since 1971, when volcano Teneguía exploded in the same island. Thousands of hectares, crops and buildings are being destroyed by lava flows, leaving a lot of devastation and pain.
This festival is born from the deep desire of helping in this crisis. An online festival, accessible and free for the public, made up of shortfilms from all around the world. We hope to bring comfort and evasion to those people (children and adults, senior citizens, families) who have lost everything and fight everyday during this disaster. Or those who are dedicating body and soul to provide shelter for the homeless, the firefighters who have not slept for days, the police who take care of the population, the donors of food and clothing, the volunteers who are helping to load trucks of personal objects, or saving pets and lost animals -this Festival for all of them.

Cinequest Film & VR Festival

San Jose, United States

Cinequest was voted Best Film Festival by USA Today Readers. Cinequest programs 85-90% of its festival from paid submissions annually, the highest percentage of the world's most influential film festivals.

"I think the most important thing about Cinequest is it's definitely the first time I've ever come to a festival where my immediate reaction is, 'What do I have to do to be invited back?' and that's not normally my reaction. It's a perfect film festival in a glorious place." - Neil Gaiman, Maverick Spirit Award Winner

Cinequest Film & VR Festival (CQFF) will occur both Live in San Jose / Silicon Valley and Globally via its proprietary Virtual platform. Cinequest has been a leader in building community, audiences, and opportunity for film and filmed media via groundbreaking tech and paradigms for decades and will continue the golden combination of live and online post pandemic.

Cinequest Film & VR Festival (CQFF) in San Jose / Silicon Valley: Set in the home of the world’s most influential media technology companies (Apple, Cisco, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, LinkedIn, Occulus etc.) CQFF showcases premier films, renowned and emerging artists, and breakthrough technology—empowering global connectivity between creators, innovators and audiences. Last year Cinequest hosted the World or U.S. Premiere of 132 films from 55 countries including a robust showcases of Mexican, Central and South American, Spanish, Indian, and Chinese Cinema. CQFF has led the world in its showcase and implementation of the technologies that have revolutionized film making, exhibition and distribution. CQFF’s blend of the artist and innovator gains focus through its Maverick Awards. Its Maverick Spirit Awards recognizes artists (Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage, Elle Fanning, J.J. Abrams, Tatiana Maslany, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bill Nighy, Ben Kingsley, Rosario Dawson, Spike Lee, James Franco, Neil Gaiman, and Sir Ian McKellen are among the guest recipients). Its Maverick Innovator Award recognizes technologists (including Martin Cooper, father of the cell phone, and Steve Wozniak, Co-founder of Apple Inc.). A Maverick stands apart from the crowd willing to create and innovate from a place of personal yet global vision.

Cinequest connects artists, innovators, media, and audiences—as people converge to experience a potent mix of immersive stories from around the globe and breakthrough technologies. Yet, Cinequest’s stellar reputation not only hinges on its knack for creating a powerful line-up, but also for securing distribution for many of its honored filmmakers. Netflix, IFC Films, Amazon, MSNBC Films, Oscilloscope, Sony Pictures, Magnolia Pictures, Kino-Lorber, eOne, Lionsgate, PBS, and HBO are just a few of the many that have signed deals with some of Cinequest's success stories.

Also, as an Academy-qualifying festival for the short film categories, Cinequest is proud to honor the winners of its Best Short Narrative and Best Short Animation prizes with a shot at every filmmaker's dream...Oscar gold.

"This festival is one that sets the trends and is actually ahead of the trends. Other festivals are copying Cinequest; I see it all the time."-- Chris Gore (Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide)

Exhibiting unique social and artistic visions from around the globe, Cinequest’s dynamic festival engages audiences in thought-provoking dialogue, giving film artists and film lovers alike an opportunity to connect. Furthermore, Cinequest provides cutting edge technology and movie-making forums to empower professionals and students.

Back to our current window, the MORE categories you think your film will fit in, the BIGGER the chances of selection, nomination or even award or a chance to have your film screened. We also do videos (creative, experimental... see Best Jewel submission category).

We also honor cast even beyond what the submission categories indicate. This means that if we like a supporting or day player actor, or a specific sound or color treatment aspect, we can nominate and award this actor.

We pick over 60 films among winners and wildcards per window.

January 1 through June 15, 2022 we will have our Rise Window. Winners will be known by the end of June before our 5th season starts on July 1, 2022. See Awards and Prizes for Gala & Screenings info.

We celebrate all genres, but most especially "M-L-C components" described in the Awards & Prizes section. MLC stands for Mobster - Latino - Comedy. We also love Midwest-Made productions (see our Midwest section) and anything loaded with VFX, great sound, animation, etc. We also welcome creative Youtube videos, promo videos, trailers of movies, etc.
