The Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival is a cinematographic event socially and culturally minded and by choice, free for anyone to access. FICCI constantly reads the particular circumstances of our country and our world to produce every year a world class version of our festival, guided by the preservation of freedom and the amplification of the cultural conversation through films and academic events that are relevant, humane, subtle, sophisticated, and act as a vehicle to enhance human consciousness, expand democracy and help create free, progressive and inclusive societies.
The Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI) is the oldest and most permanent forum in the Americas for Colombian, Ibero-American and world cinema. Being an active part of the world cinema map since 1960, in the 64th edition, it will continue to provide spaces for memory, reflection, diverse voices, and as always, for the best cinephilia.
The Festival values the creative freedom of the world’s filmmakers and has space for films of any format, length, nationality, theme, genre or technique, that meet the highest standards of quality, take on narrative risks, and propose contents of great human and cinematic relevance, pertinence, and sustainability.
The Palencia International Films Festival is organised by the Association Friends of the film and the Popular University of Palencia.
This edition is number 34, and during all these years, our philosphy has been considering cinema a tool of development and social cohesion.
Our festival colaborates with the Spanish Cinema Academy, and its a qualifyer festival for the GOYA shortfilm Awards.
In addition, the short film awarded the first prize by the jury at the MCIP (the Milagros Alcalde Award) will go directly to the Short List finalist of the FUGAZ Awards, making up the short list of films that will then be evaluated for nomination by the commission that awards these prizes each year.
The purpose of the festival refers to awareness of both the external filters on the screen, including censorship (commercial, ideological, aesthetic), and the internal filters of screen perception and projection, including self-censorship. NEFILTRAVANAE KINO is an exploration of aestheticization and commodification in art. The next aim of the festival is to expose the complexity, manysidedness, and variety of filmmaking.
NEFILTRAVANAE KINO is a film festival that is held by the Short Movie Club, the platform for cinematic projects. NEFILTRAVANAE KINO is ADAMI Media Prize qualified festival. The International Film Studies Conference is held at the same time as the film festival. In this way, film theory and practice are integrated together at the NEFILTRAVANAE KINO.
Originally the festival was held in Belarus, but because of political repression and publicly stated anti-war stance, screenings and events can be held in different countries. First of all in Lithuania (Vilnius). For example, the 10th Nefiltravanae Kino took place in Berlin, Vilnius and Helsinki last year. There were selected 63 films for 12 film programmes. https://shortmovie.club/programmes/10-2024/
The concept of the NEFILTRAVANAE KINO (Unfiltered Cinema):
ALIENATION PROBLEM
We live in a world of malls and cinema multiplexes. We see that indie cinema and non-commodity art go to the periphery of public attention. Primitive attractions replace the cinematography. The escape audience is alienated behind the big screen. So modern mainstream cinema is part of a manipulating tool that leads to the society of alienation. Thus the tendency is that indie cinema becomes more unreadable for the wide audience. We should understand the context of the filmmaker to understand the independent cinema. That is why the NEFILTRAVANAE KINO concept implies the physical presence of filmmakers.
FILM SELECTION PROBLEM
Filmmakers shoot millions of movies. And thousands of short film festivals organize screenings all over the world every year. On average, several thousand films are submitted to a film festival. So various good films can be neglected for whatever reason. Often selecting probability is like winning a lottery. As a result, filmmakers are left with no feedback. It is a paradox that no one can hear you in the age of the Internet! The mainstream culture prefers attractions and casual viewing.
Also, this idea is based on the film selection problem. Perhaps it’s no surprise one person, i.e. programme director at best, or even students of film schools make a preliminary decision to select a movie. Сoncordance of judges or previewers is more seldom thing than the difference of background, tastes. So selection or judging can be one-sided or perfunctory. It is not bad as the programme director has a good taste and aesthetic sensitivity, of course. But we’ve discovered another conception of “unfiltered cinema”. We matched it against “the best of the best” way. This way aids to perceive cinematic idiom without the dictate of art-curators.
CELEBRATION OF INDIE CINEMA
So the Unfiltered Cinema Film Festival tries to avoid “the best of the best” way but it does not ignore it completely, sure. The festival selects fiction, animation, documentary, experimental and virtual reality sections. A jury awards the best film in every section. The festival holds the screenings at cinema theatres, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts, and art-spaces.
Our aim is to gather people in art, to have a dialogue to be happy with smart communication. Cinema is art but not sport. The key point of our project is to establish communication between the filmmaker and the audience.

Mecal Pro, the Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival, will celebrate its 27th edition. The long history of MECAL PRO has consolidated it as one of the most important short film festivals in Europe and the world, thus receiving the support of local, national and international institutions. We have screened in 2024 more than 300 short films in 29 sections that we program.
Mecal is strongly committed to promoting the exhibition and dissemination of audiovisual creations in the short format, not only with the public, but also in having creators and distributors meet through different activities. Mecal is also devoted to foster emerging talent, by holding events and awards specially aimed at young creators. In this sense, it also works as a short film dissemination network, organising screenings both at a national and an international level, collaborating with festivals, embassies, and institutions around the world.
The Zaragoza Film Festival, founded in 1995 to create a cinematic activity in the city. At first his main title was the Young Filmmakers. Since 2007 its official name became the Zaragoza Film Festival.
Festival with various events, generalist and national character (although some of its events are international).
Starting in 2021, after celebrating the 25th edition of the Festival, we propose an evolution of the project.
SANFICI is a space to generate meetings at different levels, with an overcoming and innovative will. First of all, it is a space for the relationship between spectators, filmmakers and theorists around cinema and all border and heterodox manifestations. Secondly, it is a special and temporary meeting point.
SANFICI wants to become, year after year, the place of convergence for world independent cinema. But it also wants to be the space where the past and the future dialogue. The place where the most diverse film traditions are embraced with their riskiest proposals.
E?! Okolišni filmski festival (E?! Environmental Film Festival) was first imagined in 2014 by the Activist Group of Zelena akcija - Friends of the Earth Croatia, the biggest and oldest environmental NGO in Croatia. The aim was to bring the environmental topics closer to the new and wider public through documentary and feature films, as well as other content.
From the villages on another side of the world, small actions that result in big changes, to international contracts behind closed doors, we care about it all; we believe that environmental justice consists of ecological, social and economic justice, and that we cannot observe them individually if we want to achieve the systematic change that we advocate.
We screen films and organize discussions, workshops and related content that informs and inspires, in order to encourage critical thinking, social change, solidarity and action. Over the years the festival has expanded, attracting approximately 350 people in 3 days.
The Festival is passionately and voluntarily organized by the Activist Group, and regardless of the resources we have, the entrance to all content is and always will be free. Our primary goal is to spread awareness and mobilize, not to create profits, so - welcome!
Ras i Curt is the short film competition of Ullastrell (Western Valls). He first saw the light in 2018, with the aim of promoting audiovisual creation through the short film and its exhibition in Ullastrell. This 2022 we celebrate the 5th edition.
We think small places like Ullastrell, not because they are small, less rich in the knowledge and abilities of the people who inhabit it to generate culture. For this reason, through the audiovisual, a very transversal medium, the opportunity is given to both young people and adults from any place to be able to express themselves on the big screen, putting images, sound and the maximum creativity and quality that they are capable of.
From November 7 to December 14, 2022, the registration period opens to send short film proposals for the second edition of ras i Curt, with a maximum duration of 5 minutes. There are prizes for categories of up to 200 euros each, and one recognition for the best questioning and the best short poster design, each with a prize of 100 euros. The audience is and will be one of the pillars of this contest, and for this reason we give voice to your judgment to award the Audience Award, valued with 200 euros and with an annual subscription to Filmin.
We encourage anyone who has an idea to develop it, with the tools at their disposal. And to accompany those who need a push, we offer the Festival a program of 9 free training online workshops of themes that revolve around the short film. Registration is required through the online form as places are limited.
At the end of the deadline (14/12/2021), the jury, made up of five members of the audiovisual and artistic world, will deliberate the prizes among the short films presented that meet the bases. And it will be on Saturday, December 17 at 7 p.m. when the public screening of all the shorts and the corresponding subsequent awards ceremony will be made. This awards ceremony will take place in the Act Room of Ullastrell's Casal Cultural, and admission will be free - you can book a seat by www.ja.cat/entradesullastrell - or by picking them up for half an hour before starting the event at the Casal's locker. The ticket will be accompanied by a voting ticket for the public prize.
