The festival will be moved to April 2024. Västerås film festival shows films in different genres from around the world. We have prizes in different categories. The festival also contains workshops, lectures, debates, film cafés and exhibitions. Västerås Film Festival is one of the most interesting festivals in northern Europe.
Västerås Film Festival 2024 becomes a genre film festival, there will be changes in prices.
Transhumant Festival is an engaged cinema event to do the social transformation.
It aims to reach audiences far away from culture, both geographically and by social circumstances to make them participants and show topics that concern society and that are not sufficiently disseminated in movie theatres, media or usual audiovisual distribution channels.
It will showcase national and international cinematographic works and photojournalism reportages that focus on:
- Social, political, environmental, mountain, journalistic or historical research.
- Showing some form of activism in favour of human rights and respect for the environment.
- Valuing positive human relations and diversity of cultures.
- Valuing the equity between women and men.
The "Corto di sera" Festival takes place in August in Itala, in the province of Messina since 2012.
Participation to the Festival is free and open to all Italians and foreign authors, single filmmakers orcollectives/associations.
- The Festival is exclusively dedicated to short films that last less than 20minutes.
- Any genre will be accepted (documentary, fiction, classic and/or digital animation)
- All foreign works shot in any language which is not Italian must be subtitled in Italian . Non-subtitled foreign short films will not be selected.
- Each author may submit up to a maximum of three works.
- The organizers reserve the possibility to create additional sections.
Festival’s purpose is to promote the independent short film production in all its forms as an artistic and expressive language. The aim of to create an annual event in Italy where filmmakers, video makers, professionals or enthusiasts cinema can meet and connect different experiences.
The Malaga Festival, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Area of the Malaga City Council, pursues the objective of supporting the presence of women in film production, creating spaces that make visible the work of women in the audiovisual field, professional field where they are underrepresented, both in the direction, in the production or in the writing of scripts; favoring the film industry with the diverse views of women.
In order to fulfill this objective, the Equal Opportunities Area will hold its “XXII FILM SHOW WOMEN ON STAGE”, between the months of October and November 2026.
THE WOMEN ON STAGE FILM EXHIBITION was created in 2002 with the aim of debating, through the holding of cineforums, the existing gender inequalities in our society as well as in other nearby ones, reflecting on their causes and possible social strategies to eradicate them.
The Málaga Festival, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Department of Málaga City Council, aims to support the presence of women in film production by creating spaces that showcase women’s work in the audiovisual field, a professional area where they are underrepresented, whether in directing, producing, or screenwriting; thereby enriching the film industry with the diverse perspectives of women.
To fulfill this objective, the Equal Opportunities Department will hold its “24th WOMEN ON STAGE FILM SHOWCASE” between October and November 2026.
The WOMEN ON STAGE FILM SHOWCASE was created in 2002 with the aim of fostering debate, through film forums, on gender inequalities present in our society and in others nearby, reflecting on their causes and possible social strategies to eradicate them.
Since 2010, in addition to this objective of raising awareness and increasing visibility, the initiative has also aimed to support the presence of women in film production, a field where there is a significant gender gap. As more and more women are interested in developing their professional careers in this area, one of the purposes of the OFFICIAL WOMEN ON STAGE SECTION is to highlight audiovisual productions made by women.
Among the works submitted, the Málaga Festival will grant 4 “WOMEN ON STAGE” AWARDS. These include:
3 AWARDS aimed at women participating as directors, producers, and/or screenwriters of audiovisual works: the Silver Biznaga Women on Stage Award for Best Documentary, the Silver Biznaga Women on Stage Award for Best Fiction Work, and the Silver Biznaga Audience Award Women on Stage.
1 Silver Biznaga “MÁLAGA, WOMEN ON STAGE” Award for the best work created by a woman born or residing in Málaga, in any professional category.
All awards will be presented in the section AFFIRMING WOMEN’S RIGHTS, during the 30th EDITION OF THE MÁLAGA FESTIVAL, which will take place from February 26 to March 7, 2027
Since 2010, this objective of raising awareness and visibility has been added to supporting the presence of women in film production, an area in which there is a large gender gap, taking advantage of the fact that every day there are more women interested in developing their professional careers. SHORTS MEXICO - Mexico International Short Film Festival call for entries begins February 23rd - May 31st 2026 at 23:59 (CST) Mexico City. We are open to receive Short Films from all over the world inviting all production genres.
SHORTS MEXICO is an exhibition platform specializing in short films that promotes cinema creative expressions, diverse voices, distinctive and innovative visions and bold quality films from filmmakers from all over the world. At SHORTS MEXICO we encourage the growth and development of short films as well as filmmakers.
The 21st Edition of SHORTS MEXICO will be held from September 1st through the 30th 2026 in Mexico City and the 32 States of the Mexican Republic. The National Cinematheque of Mexico is the main venue of the festival, and it amounts other important venues as CINEMEX Theaters, one of the largest cinema chains in the world, the famous Vasconcelos Library, Centro Cultural Universitario de la UNAM, CDMX´s and Cultural Centers, etc. The festival amounts over 75 venues in Mexico City and holds exhibitions nationwide, the event occurs throughout Mexico. SHORTS MÉXICO is presented in a hybrid format, holding in-theaters / in - person screenings, virtual - online streaming transmission, and televised exhibitions as well, having over 1 million spectators per edition.
Throughout the year the festival features short films theatrical releases, previews, exhibitions, retrospectives and master classes. The Shorts Mexico Tour includes cities, towns and villages of Mexico, as well as exhibitions in various countries around the world.
Shorts Mexico Academy conference cycle includes an academic offer aimed at developing professionalization in various specialized areas of filmmaking. The festival will also present Shorts México Pitching Competition, Work In Progress Contest, and its Screenplay Short Film Competition, with the goal of encouraging and promoting the creation, professionalization and production of quality films.

Directed by Women Spain is a film viewing celebration of films directed by women in Spain.
Our celebration is part of the International movement Directed by Women, that for the past 9 years has been dedicated to promote and give visibility to films directed by Women.
Cineteca of Madrid and the CICUS of Seville are hosting the tenth edition with a complete program of short film sessions, feature films, unseen documentaries, sessions for young audiences and children. Filmmakers will be invited to present their pieces to the public and to participate in a Q&A.

Festival founded by Kharkiv Regional Council in 2009.
The Festival mission is to find and support children’s/youth studios and clubs, which are engaged in cinema and television creativity, talented children; development of the children’s/youth cinema and television in Ukraine.
The Festival objectives are:
– the establishment and development of contacts between children’s/youth studios, experience exchange and further professional development of the participants;
– communication to the general public of interesting, outstanding works and projects from different countries, presentation of the best global practices in the development of children’s/youth cinema and television industry;
– the setup of creative and communication platforms to exchange experience and present new projects during the Festival and between the Festival times;
– creative personal development, education of moral values and social activism;
– drawing attention of governmental, non-governmental organizations and commercial entities to the issues of the development of screen children’s/youth creativity, to the processes of personality forming via receiving information broadcast by electronic mass media, to the needs of children’s/youth creative clubs, the development of talented children and their future.
The Festival is held among children’s/youth television, animation, cinema- and radio studios, clubs, groups and individual authors, television and radio broadcasters and creative production entities, directors and producers’ centres, which produce programmes and films for children and youth.
The Malta Short Film Festival is now in its 17th edition. It brings together films of different genres from around the world. But its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is broadcast on TVM, Malta’s national TV station. The films are discussed and adjudicated by a panel of judges. This enables the filmmaker and the viewer to understand the production value of each entry and its ability to communicate with its audience.
The final program consists of an awards giving ceremony which is filmed towards the end of September.

The 17th Film Festival: Childhood and Adolescence – 2026 is a celebration featuring spaces for audiovisual exchange and education for children, adolescents, and young adults, with screenings, recreational activities, workshops, panels, and discussions. Its primary objective is to promote Bogotá as a pioneering city in Latin America in terms of ensuring that children and adolescents are visible, play a leading role, and enjoy full rights through audiovisual production. Participation in the exhibition and audiovisual content sharing activities is free of charge.
The Festival will take place from September 7 to 12, 2026.
Children and adolescents will have access to an audiovisual program consisting of national and international animated and fiction short films, television series, and the “FESTICINE AWARD” category, which is awarded to audiovisual works created by children in Colombia and around the world. The program team of the 21th Cheongju International Short Film Festival is hosting the festival under the motto of 'Film Festival for the Audience, by the Audience, of the Audience'.
1. Organization
The Cheongju International Short Film Festival is organized by the Cheongju branch of the General Association of Korean Filmmakers and hosted by the Cheongju International Short Film Festival Executive Committee.
Discussions on the Cheongju International Short Film Festival began in 1999 when Kim Kyung-sik, the first chairman of the association, established the Chungbuk Film Council.
The official start of the Cheongju International Short Film Festival is the "Cheongju City Excellent Short Film Festival" held by Kim Kyung-sik, the first president of the Cheongju Film Artists Association, a division established in 2004.
At that time, the main programs were "Invited Screenings for Outstanding Short Films in Korea" and "Cheongju Youth Film Class" aimed at fostering future film talents.
Since then, the festival has been renamed the "Cheongju City Digital Short Film Festival" in 2006, attempting to make changes in line with the digital era. Then in 2013, director Eo Il-sun took office as the second president, renaming it as the "Cheongju International Short Film Festival," inviting foreign films to diversify the program.
The city of Cheongju declared "video culture city" with the launch of the "Cheongju Film Commission" in 2017.
2. Purpose
The Cheongju International Short Film Festival aims to promote the diversity of video culture and independent short film production by discovering and introducing excellent short films from around the world.
The Ciak Film Award is an International Film Festival dedicated to Short Films lasting no more than 40 minutes, of any theme done in an original or surprising way, structured in three categories:

The Short Films are selected by an internal jury and screened in a Theater in one of Rome's most characteristic areas: the Teatro Trastevere.
The first inaugural edition took place on June 7, 2025, and we are now working to prepare the 2026 edition, which will also take place in June.
ANTOFACINE, the Antofagasta International Film Festival, is a gathering instance for national and international filmmakers; based on this premise we would like to contribute to:
● Promoting fiction, nonfiction and animations films as tools for cultural and social transformation and to benefit all of Antofagasta Region residents.
● Fostering the development of audiovisual projects in the region and country, supporting the creation of a professional space in order to promote local, national and international audiovisual works; contributing to audience formation and generating a gathering point in Antofagasta for the necessary interaction of all relevant agents of the audiovisual industry.
The 12 version of the Antofagasta International Film Festival, ANTOFACINE 2023 will be held from November 14 to 18, in the city of Antofagasta and other places of the region.
The 16th edition of the Student Film Festival FENACIES Uruguay opened its inscriptions on April 1st, and will remain open until May 30th. As every year, all the students from all over the world (from Primary to University) can register their short films totally free, which will be displayed in Montevideo from September 7th to 13th.
FENACIES is an international student film festival with 16 years of uninterrupted history in Uruguay, dedicated to the training, exhibition and encouragement of young filmmakers.
The main objective of the festival is to strengthen audio-visual education among the youngest, and through the making of short films they can express their ideas, so that they can later be seen reflected on the big screen. It is always about discerning with the criteria of creativity and ideas, and seeking fair and loyal competition according to the ages competing.
During the week of the festival, the short films that are selected will be shown. On Sunday, September 13, the winners will be announced at the closing ceremony.
