Banner Indy Film Fest

Indy Film Fest

Indianapolis, United States

Indy Film Fest was founded in 2004 to celebrate the art of cinema and to create a shared experience around film in Indianapolis. We are a non-profit, international, independent film festival programming both features and shorts. Our all-volunteer staff strives to bring the best films the industry has to offer to our community from home and abroad. Our programmers aim to foster new talent and help filmmakers connect with the global industry. We are also dedicated to educating and developing audiences for international and independent cinema in Indy, screening the kind of innovative, visionary work that may not normally achieve distribution in this area.

Indy Film Fest is looking for the best independent features and shorts no matter the category or genre including: live action, animated, drama, comedy, narrative, documentary, horror, sci-fi, and experimental. Our annual festival spanning over 10+ days typically programs around 25 features and 100 short films, with over 90% from submissions.

Always growing and adapting, the Indy Film Fest began as the three-day Indianapolis International Film Festival in 2004. We quickly expanded to our current 10-day format in 2006, moved our festivities to the summer in 2009, changed our name to the Indy Film Fest in 2014, and since 2018 have been back home in our original spring timeframe. Due to COVID-19 our 2020 and 2021 festivals were primarily virtual and our 2022 and 2023 festivals were hybrid 5-day in-person festivals followed by virtual availability and concluding with award-winner in-person screenings on the final weekend. That format is our goal for the 2024 festival and before selection decisions are made filmmakers will be informed of any changes to dates or format and given the opportunity to request their submission fee be applied to a future festival if those changes are not acceptable.

Alumni of the Indy Film Fest (and Indianapolis International Film Festival) are eligible for a reasonable number of free submissions. Films with significant ties to Indiana are eligible for drastically reduced submission fees. Examples of eligibility include the director or writer being a current Indiana resident or native, or the film being primarily shot within Indiana. Please contact submissions@indyfilmfest.org to see if you are eligible for either of these opportunities.

Short Film Series - presented by the Radical Frame Film Festival

Berlin, Germany

Welcome to the Radical Frame Film - 2025 Short Film Series - Berlin

We at the Radical Frame Film Festival are proud to announce edition number eleven of Short Film
Series.

The idea for the Radical Frame Film Festival started years ago when a group of Denver activists,
artists, and friends decided to bring the messages of video activist cinema into the public eye.

We feel that due to the current social and political climate, both locally and globally, our mission
-- to provide a forum for thought provoking films and debates -- is more critical than ever.

We are committed to presenting progressive, leftist, radical, anti-racist, experimental, and
visionary films that address issues including, but not limited to, the environment, human rights,
social injustice, antiglobalization, etc...

The Radical Frame Film Festival showcases every genre of independent film from across the world during this incredible bi-continental celebration of independent artists.

The Radical Frame Film Festival is a forum where filmmakers can thrive outside the mainstream arena.

The Short Film Series turns the spotlight on truly independent short films, created by new and
established filmmakers. The purpose is to allow anyone regardless of country, to step to their dreams and start taking the steps to live life with passion and purpose.

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival

Kansas City, United States

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival is dedicated to bringing the work of independent filmmakers with unique and underappreciated visions to the people of Kansas City.

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival accepts films in every genre, on any topic, from every country worldwide. Our programming emphasizes low-budget (or no-budget) features and short films across all genres. All films are eligible regardless of completion date or premiere status.

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival is broken up into two sections; "in competition" and "for your consideration".

The films selected for the "in competition" section will be screened in pairings over a 5 day period with audience and jury awards announced on the final day. These films will include feature-length films (60+ minutes) and a shorts program (less than 60 minutes). The number of films selected will depend on scheduling and the number of qualifying submissions.

The films selected in the "for your consideration" section will be screened outside of the 5 day competition period and will not be eligible for awards. This program will include feature-length films (60+ minutes) and shorts (less than 60 minutes) that our programming committee has deemed unique or thought-provoking, but are unlikely to stand out in a festival environment. The purpose of this section is to highlight distinctive voices that are pushing boundaries and innovating the art form. "For your consideration" screenings are year-round. Scheduling is dependant on filmmakers and venue availability.

Event dates are subject to change. All submissions will be notified if changes are necessary.

Our short film show intends to celebrate and disseminate the film creation made by women.

We want to create a diverse and heterogeneous show, we will not value positively that the theme of the short film is related to gender, because we want to exhibit the feminine creation in its pure gesture, for its cinematic value and not for its theme.

We will value positively that the director can attend the exhibition, since our intention is to create a dialogue with the public about the work of the directors.

L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain

At the end of May 2025, the Florida neighbourhood will host the 7th edition of the FILMSERÈ – International Short Film Festival of La Florida.

This project is conceived by students from the Cinema course at the Eduard Fontserè Institute in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, with guidance from teachers and professionals linked to the film industry, alongside collaboration from local residents, social entities, and associations, among others.

This is an event organised by local people for local people, with everyone from L'Hospitalet, Barcelona, and beyond invited to attend! It is an international festival featuring short films submitted from around the world, supported by the Les Planes-Blocs Florida Integrated Plan from the L'Hospitalet City Council.

Short films of all kinds are selected, with a single criterion: they must be of the highest quality and highly entertaining. Fiction shorts, documentaries, animations, music videos, etc., are all welcome.
Various awards are presented, some of which are monetary.

In addition to a student jury made up of 4th secondary school year (Y11) students organising the festival, we also have an official jury comprising individuals connected to film and the arts, local residents, young people, seniors, and social associations from the neighbourhood.

The festival features outdoor screenings as well as events in indoor spaces across the La Florida area. Attendance in 2021 was 400 spectators over 5 sessions, 2022 saw over 500 attendees across 5 sessions, and in 2023 nearly 1,000 spectators attended across 5 sessions, with more than 1,000 expected in 2024!

This year, we hope to break the record again. We look forward to seeing you all there!
