12th. Children's Audiovisual Festival (FICAIJ), 2021-2022
Venezuela-Colombia
The Children's Audiovisual Festival, known by its acronym FICAIJ, was born in Mérida, Venezuela, in 2010, and has consolidated itself after 12 years as one of the most important windows for exhibiting quality educational and alternative content as well as commercial content for children, adolescents, youth and families in the country and the region.
After having attended to more than 41,385 participants in its 11 previous editions which have impacted directly in 6 countries of the world. Facing the panorama of pandemic that we are still living through the COVID-19, we assumed the challenge of transforming ourselves and activating our 12th edition in the web with main incidence in the countries of our region. Additionally, we are planning to have some in-person screenings in Venezuela and Colombia.
History:
More than 1,506 short and long films from 81 countries around the world were broadcast on FICAIJ's screens, and more than 392 people, including children, adolescents, young people and adults, evaluated and judged these films.
Our jurors came not only from Venezuela but also from 9 other countries: Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Spain, and South Africa, participating in representation of their places of origin.
Philosophy:
We promote audiovisuals from a reflective and productive viewpoint, inviting children, adolescents and young people to take an active role as creators and prosumers.
Mission:
FICAIJ seeks to encourage the creation, production, exhibition and distribution of quality content for and by children, adolescents and young people in the region, stimulating the protagonism of children in all these processes.
2nd. Laboratorio FICAIJ:
With the double purpose of strengthening, on the one hand, the production of children, youth and family contents at a regional level, and on the other hand, the training of teachers in education with and for media, a more evident need in view of the digital education imposed by the pandemic, the organization of FICAIJ assumes the challenge of developing the 2nd. edition of its Laboratorio FICAIJ, a training space aimed at the sector of production of contents for Latin American boys and girls and at the sector of education.

Home to Epsom Racecourse and the world’s most famous horse race, The Derby (where Emily Davison famously took a fatal stand for the suffragette movement in 1913), it is a former spa town which gives its name to Epsom Salts. With proximity to London a key factor (in terms of accessibility to the industry), as well as the importance of available venues, hospitality and great food, Epsom is a vital gateway.
NIFF is a space for criticism, denunciation, impact and social growth through the dissemination and promotion of cinema.
NIFF aims to be a statement against non-involvement, disregard and lack of commitment, which is the real disease of this century, where we produce more than we can consume, and happiness is subject to the law of supply and demand.
NIFF was born with the intention of triggering, debating the issues that are hidden under appearances and confronting the public with the social realities that show each individual as a part of those that make us complex, unique and human.

Interested? Here's how it works...
The Various Artists independent Film Festival (VAiFF) is pleased to announce the 3rd year of our 21st century festival on the heels of our yearly festival, awards ceremony, workshops and wrap party!
This unique festival was created to provide artists with the opportunity to showcase their creativity and engage in healthy competition with their talented peers. And with the removal of the 2 year project completion stipulation on submissions - we strongly believe that a filmmaker’s passion should not be limited by an expiration date - VAiFF is perfect for filmmakers looking for that ‘big break’ and looking to take ‘one more shot’.
Highlights:
VAiFF screens all content submissions in their entirety. Once the semi-finalists (per submission quarter) have been selected, ONLY YOUR PROJECT'S TRAILER or SIZZLE REEL or (:15)s of your music video will be online for viewers to vote on. There is a 30 day voting period where members of your social media community, friends, and family will view and vote for your project.
The projects in each category with the most/positive amounts of votes will move on to the FINALE competition.
After the FALL quarter, the process continues with the WINTER, SPRING and SUMMER quarters. The nominees from these quarters will compete in the FINALE COMPETITION.
In October of 2020, all the semi-finalists’ films will be screened at the Various Artists independent Film Festival Competition and Awards Ceremony, which will again be held in Chicago, IL.
Filmmakers, industry leaders, and film lovers will enjoy a weekend full of films, networking, Q&A sessions, seminars and a fun-filled wrap party to make this an event people will not want to miss.
Producers securing quarterly nominations will receive prizes, and at the LIVE event, the top 9 winning films will be presented with a VAiFF PERSONALIZED CRYSTAL AWARD along with other perks.

The Bogotá International Documentary Film Festival (MIDBO), organized by the Colombian Documentary Filmmakers Corporation ALADOS, is an event specialized in documentaries that over the past 26 years has consolidated itself in Colombia and Latin America as a fundamental space for exhibition, dialogue, and thought around non-fiction audiovisual works.
For the 27th edition of MIDBO, we invite filmmakers and producers to submit their audiovisual works for the 2025 film call and to participate in various training and discussion spaces that will be held both virtually and in person during the event.
This year, the 27th edition of MIDBO will take place from October 29 to November 7 in Bogotá, Colombia. The event will tour different regions of the country throughout the year, maintaining our "Martes MIDBO-ALADOS" screening series in various partner venues.
After 26 editions, MIDBO continues to work on creating an event that fosters and trusts in reflection on documentaries, the ways in which we approach reality, with our main interest being the many ways of documenting the world. Committed to the goal of unraveling the complexity of a reality that exceeds us, we continue to build each year the ideal space to meet and reflect on documentary work.
For 2025, we maintain our interest in promoting creation and recognizing the efforts of filmmakers by offering two competitive sections: one for Ibero-American feature films and another for national short films. We will award the prize for Best Ibero-American Documentary Feature, for films longer than 60 minutes made in Ibero-America, and the prize for Best National Documentary Short, for films no longer than 30 minutes made in Colombia or by a Colombian. The jury for each competition will be announced one month before the event and will consist of three (3) artists, filmmakers, writers, critics, or cultural managers.
*** We are committed to being an inclusive event, so we will pay special attention to films that include audio description for blind individuals, closed captions, or inclusive subtitles for deaf audiences. ***
