Cinema is a magical place. It appeals to all our senses, plugs into other people’s experiences and offers an alternate perspective. Watching a film at the cinema is a shared experience where you go on a collective journey with the rest of the audience. The tears, the laughter, the joy, the suspense and seeing through a window to another world, all is a shared moment. What is more amazing than that?
Our passion for South Asian arts and cinema remains as resilient and strong as it did when Tongues on Fire began.

By revisiting the previous editions, we find classics of world cinema, as Jewish films tend to be full of questions and comments that do not boil down to religious issues. Involve culture, identity, social, political and traditions passed down from generation to generation. Issues that may be common among all people. Throughout the intense programming, fiction and documentaries, winners will be exhibited and critically acclaimed. All have been featured in several international festivals, Jewish or not cinema.

Student Short Films in Fiction, Animation, Documentary & Screenplay.
KloosterKino is the place to be for animated shorts in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Three times a year we show the best animated shorts from all over the world in a friendly setting. The screenings take place in a historic cloister, which dates back to 1909, and are not subject to admission.
KloosterKino shows work by young filmmakers, but also pays attention to classic animated film. Throughout the year we also work with other festivals and cultural organizations to arrange screenings of animated shorts.
But why animated shorts? Well, first of all, because we love them! But also because too few animated shorts are shown theatrically in the Netherlands. KloosterKino wants to show animation in all its diversity: from stop-motion to CGI, from narrative to abstract, homegrown and from far away. In doing so, we hope to aid in the diffusion of the artistic animated short.
We intend to be an alternative to the larger animation festivals by offering screenings which are both accessible and challenging. We stand for high quality animated film in welcoming surroundings. Our target audience is not just the animation aficionado, but also those who normally don’t watch animation, but are open to a surprising and stimulating program of films.
KloosterKino is a nonprofit foundation, that depends on volunteers and gifts.

Filmfest homochrom is one of the youngest LGBT film festival in Germany, but it is already one of the biggest, too. That’s why we are giving our best to establish an outstanding programme.
We are very honoured and proud that audiences have heartily embraced our first film festivals, and that we were able to show so many great premieres (about 70% of the films were German premieres in 2014).
