The 2024 Africa International Human Rights Film Festival (AIHRFF) will explore the theme of "Resilience." This theme acknowledges the immense challenges faced by African communities – from political conflict and social injustice to environmental degradation and economic hardship. However, it also celebrates the enduring spirit of Africans in overcoming these obstacles and building a brighter future.
Rationale:
The concept of resilience is particularly relevant in today's Africa. The continent is grappling with numerous issues that threaten human rights and development. Despite these challenges, Africans continue to demonstrate remarkable strength, resourcefulness, and a determination to thrive.
Objectives:
To showcase films that document the struggles and triumphs of African communities in the face of adversity.
To celebrate the power of human resilience and its role in promoting human rights and social justice.
To provide a platform for filmmakers, activists, and audiences to engage in dialogue about critical human rights issues in Africa.
To foster solidarity and collaboration among human rights defenders across the continent.
Film Making is an art and it needs more patience and determination to recreate your ideas to a motion picture. Films Festivals although are typically annual events, they acknowledge various genre of films, mostly from across the globe and encourage people engaged in cinema. They also provide an opportunity for unknown filmmakers to get their movies in front of a real live audience and to have their films reviewed by professional critics. Filmmakers whose movies get accepted into a festival also get valuable press attention and exposure to prospective agents and buyers, not to mention a sometimes sizeable cash award if they win.
From time immemorial, films have played a very important part in bringing people of varying backgrounds together and entertaining them. But, most of the times, the hard work behind making these fields go unnoticed and therefore film festivals started all over the world.
Venice Film Festival is the oldest one in the world, there are two other prestigious Film Festivals of Cannes and Berlin. Although the main crux came from international countries, India also has its very own set of Film Festivals in accordance to different states. Stating a few would be, Bangalore Film Festival 1996, Kolkata Film Festival 1995, Mumbai Film Festival 1990 and many more.

The Stars of the short film were created in Pau in 2007 by Vidéo Tout Tendance. They were then "transferred" in 2010 to Mourenx and then "died out".
With the agreement of the founding members Didier LABAN and Jean LASSUS-PIGAT, the city of Cabestany and Image In decided to continue the adventure by organizing since 2012, the Étoiles du court in the André ABET cinema hall.
This concept, unique in France, allows the best award-winning films to be presented at the biggest events (César, Clermont-Ferrand, etc.) and the various partner short film festivals.
Out of Bounds is an independent event, in Puglia, southern Italy.
In 1945 the American army landed in southern Italy for the "liberation" campaign and suddenly passed through Molfetta, our base city. During their stay the allies reported some neighborhoods as "OUT OF LIMITS" due to the "social danger" of the people who lived there. In the first two editions, 2013 and 2014, our festival took place in two squares, Piazza San Michele and Piazza delle Erbe, near the areas still considered by many to be "out of bounds", in Molfetta.
The “Out Of Bounds” film event is run by filmmakers and focuses on empowering the best independent artists and encouraging all aspects of independent film production. We seek the unconventional, the unusual, the underground, the intuitive, the innovative and the true.
Subsequent editions took place in the cloister of the church of San Domenico, in the port area of the town and in the ancient arena of the castle of Barletta, an evocative and historic medieval place and at the Artists' Citadel of Molfetta.
The special section chosen for the latest editions is "Film School Short". The new section for both national and international works is “Short from the sea”.
This year the Festival will host the first stage of the fourth edition of the "Out of Bounds Film School", a film school supported by the Ministries of Culture and Education.
