Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest

Berlin, Germany

Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest was the first genre-specific Sci-Fi film festival in Germany. Berlin is a metropolis that welcomes a better future. Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest is looking for thought provoking science fiction that makes audiences think, feel, and reflect on our place in the universe and our future.

We are SF (Speculative Fiction) oriented, embracing thoughtful and genre-bending films. We are particularly interested in films that reflect the New Weird, as well as animated films of all types. We also enjoy good Hard Sci/Fi.

In 2024, we stumbled across an emerging genre that we have named Psychopunk. Psychopunk uses familiar tropes of Cyberpunk to explore relationships, mental health, self-expression, and human potential in a rapidly changing world of technologies such as artificial intelligence, prescription and designer drugs, and cybernetics. Psychopunk stories tend to be about normal people facing normal problems. If you have a movie or script that fits this description, we are very interested in seeing your film.

We are celebrating the tenth edition of the Ciutadà Compromés Film Festival, organized by ACICOM.

Faithful to the initial project, we want to bring Valencian audiovisual productions closer to the public, which is why we project on multiple screens counting on the synergies of social entities and organizations. We will have civic and social, institutional and commercial rooms.

We value, with their exhibition, Valencian audiovisual productions, those that bring us a committed look. Our environment, social, territorial, economic, human rights, relationships, etc. is treated in these works. Some audiovisuals with a restless look.

We are a festival away from the red carpet, and more identified with the people and organizations we care about and work to improve society.

week for audiovisual sovereignty

quilmes, Argentina

It is a party that combines different languages, platforms and materials that revolve around audiovisual and cinematographic language. It calls for works from all backgrounds, emphasizing urban, rural and community-based community productions produced by Latin American peoples who are in search of their own image and propose different perspectives that do not find a space in the commercial distribution network.

The competition conditions the creator to submit to the taste of a jury, limiting in many cases the creative options of filmmakers whose works do not respond to the logic of the film industry; So we propose a non-competitive festival where the objective, rather than winning an award or recognition, is to share the experience of the realization itself, the search for the image and the reality that it reflects.

An open, plural, democratic party, which invites all sovereign achievements to join in dreaming and being part of the force that constitutes the different, critical, silenced looks. Inviting national and international allies to add as many voices to that search for their own image and audiovisual sovereignty.

Works made in neighborhoods and community cinema by more people making audiovisual and less stars of the film industry. Decentralized projection sites, to bring the audiovisual to where people are and (re) take the street for public and free cultural action, for love, not for business. A meeting, production, reflection and discussion space, on topics that concern us and that are embodied in the films that are screened and in the workshops that take place during the week, because we celebrate the audiovisual as a weapon of struggle for our free expression.

5 Film & Photo Awards Festival

The 5 Film & Photo Award is an International Event for Film and Photography with the Intention to create a bridge between different countries and cultures. The Festival is inspired by a 500 years old tree in the suburb of Damavand, located in the village of Aro.

This tree has been the subject of photographs of International Director and photographer Abbas Kiarostami every year in different seasons for many years. His photographs have been exhibited under the title “Snow White” in world-renowned galleries such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.

About 5 years ago, Mahdi Khorashadizadeh, a documentary photographer and Filmmaker and the Founder of 5 Film & Photo Awards photographed this tree again and created the festival to celebrate this cultural and iconic symbol, which symboliyes Abbas Kiarostami’s artistic legacy.

The number “5” is derived from the movie “5” made by Abbas Kiarostami, which has been published in 2002 and contains 5 scenes with the average duration of 16 minutes.

Festival 5 is a prestigious and large festival for film and photography. This festival supports artists from all over the world by awarding exquisite prizes. We have been holding this festival for five years. Our goal is to find independent and modern artists. We support independent artists. Artists who have worked hard to produce their works.

The Aguilar de Campoo Short Film Festival is consolidated as one of the most veteran and relevant film citations in our country in its genre. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts of Spain, includes it as one of the key festivals for the selection of short films that will compete in the Goya Awards. Throughout the last editions the festival has been making important decisions that commit it to the cinema of our country. In his thirteenth edition he published his manifesto where he exhibited his philosophy and commitment to film. He made the decision to pay for selection to the selected short films thus eliminating economic competition in order to encourage artistic creation and production. Its screening rooms are open to international cinema including all genres, fiction, documentary animation and experimental cinema. In 2016 the festival received recognition from the AIC (Short Film Industry Association). This certificate is an annual distinction to differentiate and reward festivals that perform an exemplary role in the dissemination, protection and professionalization of cinema and its industry, and especially of the short film. This is the first time this certification has been granted and is the result of more than a year of work tables and conversations with festivals, filmmakers and other professionals from across the country in order to develop a guide to good behaviors towards the short film and its creators. The basic objectives of this distinction are to educate new generations of filmmakers and protect model festivals, recognizing their dedication and rigor. We seek the encounter and exchange between professionals and the public as a form of cultural enrichment.
