IMAGINARIA nasce nel 2003 quale festival internazionale di cortometraggi d’autore.
Imaginaria, dal 2014, lancia una nuova esperienza: affiancare in una naturale continuità il cinema d’animazione internazionale ai movimenti e agli autori più innovativi del fumetto d’autore.
Una manifestazione quanto mai eccentrica e “specializzata” rispetto all’abituale programmazione audiovisiva regionale.
Il 36° Message to Man International Festival di documentari, cortometraggi, film d'animazione e sperimentali si svolgerà dal 16 al 24 ottobre 2026 a San Pietroburgo, in Russia.
Nel corso degli anni, il Festival ha ospitato personaggi illustri del cinema mondiale, tra cui Werner Herzog, Ulrich Seidl, Claude Lanzmann, Isabelle Huppert, Fanny Ardant, Agnès Varda, Mira Nair, Paolo Sorrentino, Alan Berliner, Eric Roberts, Jonathan Rosenbaum, Abdellatif Kechiche, Udo Kier e molti altri.
Con una storia che abbraccia tre decenni di sviluppo cinematografico, Message to Man è stata fondata nel 1989 a Leningrado dal regista Mikhail Litvyakov, che ora è presidente onorario del Festival.
Nel 2010, Alexei Uchitel, famoso regista di documentari e lungometraggi, ha assunto il ruolo di presidente del Festival.
Il programma del Festival ruota attorno a tre competizioni: internazionale, nazionale e sperimentale, e offre una piattaforma per lungometraggi e cortometraggi in lizza per il Grand Prix del Festival. Message to Man attira costantemente migliaia di appassionati di cinema a San Pietroburgo ogni anno.

Get Reel is a film festival that aims to uncover the greatest new film-making talent, in Australia and New Zealand, by asking entrants to produce a film, less than 10 minutes in length, responding to a specific theme. The festival promotes creativity and has attracted over 1,650 to date. This year's theme will be Time to Talk.
In 2016, the theme for the festival was Being Seen. After whittling down all of the entries over 180 attendees enjoyed the Top Ten films, as voted for by our film industry judging panel including Andrew Morley, Danielle Cormack, Jessica Grace Smith and Socratis Otto, at a Grand Final screening.
The Top Ten finalist screening provided a thought provoking night of entertainment with all funds raised going to Suicide Prevention Australia.

With twenty-two years of existence, (the first edition was in 1997) AVANCA Film Festival was awarded first place in 2011 contest of the support film festivals sponsored by ICA / Ministry of Culture.
An additional thematic programming has happened over all these years, giving space to screening of significant works of contemporary cinema appropriately framed in concerns and / or well-defined objectives.
The AVANCA is known as a space for workshops led by personalities of world cinema, and being more than a "master class", has allowed a unique cinema practice. Every year we have always 6 or 7 workshops, bringing together participants from all over Europe. The media have written that this is the largest European area of professional workshops in the field of cinema.
AVANCA is the only festival that congregates a Cinema International Competition, works from the television area, video and new supports of multimedia, with a special concern of exhibit the best world productions done in each category.
Since the first edition, the festival only accepts unprecedented films in Portugal.
The World Premiere competition is unique in our country and was only possible because Avanca became a passage point of unpublished authors and movies with great quality. Films that have their world premiere in the festival, independently of the submitted category, are also participating in the World Premiere Competition.
AVANCA is the Portuguese festival with the highest percentage of worldwide unpublished movies that find here their first showing.
In 2020 Edition, Avanca will bring for the first time the VR Competition, where films in virtual reality 360°, narrative or experimental (but with no interactivity) are allowed.
Since 2010, we have organized the international film conference AVANCA | CINEMA, becoming the most important conference in the field of cinema in the Iberian Peninsula. This conference brings together speakers and participants from around the world.
Thematic exhibitions, editions of books, bibliographic presentations and various projects have marked these last 10 years of AVANCA with the quality that compels the festival and the participants obviously require.
