Il 20th River Film Festival è un festival cinematografico internazionale che si svolgerà a Padova, in Italia, dal 3 al 20 giugno 2026.
Il Festival è organizzato dall'Associazione Culturale Researching Movies ed è sostenuto dal Comune di Padova, dalla Regione Veneto e dal Ministero della Cultura italiano.
Padova è stata recentemente aggiunta alla lista del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO grazie alla Cappella degli Scrovegni di Giotto e ai cicli di affreschi del XIV secolo, rendendola una città d'arte davvero speciale che attira turisti e menti creative da tutto il mondo.
Tutte le proiezioni sono gratuite e aperte al pubblico, non è richiesto alcun biglietto.
I film selezionati saranno nuovamente proiettati su uno schermo galleggiante collocato al centro del porto fluviale del XVI secolo a Porta Portello, la storica porta della città un tempo utilizzata per il commercio tra Padova e Venezia. Questo ambiente magico è solo uno dei tanti motivi per cui il pubblico torna al RiFF anno dopo anno.
Nel corso dei 18 giorni del festival, i registi e le loro troupe avranno l'opportunità di presentare i loro film e partecipare a sessioni di domande e risposte dopo la proiezione con il pubblico.
L’etimo del termine “queer” investe un piano semantico che condensa dentro di sé sia il concetto di trasversalità che di diversità. Al suo interno, pertanto, confluiscono non solo le tematiche GLBT (gay, lesbiche, bisex e transgender) in senso stretto, che vengono scardinate dalle banalizzazioni classificatorie di comodo, ma tutto ciò che può essere considerato out, differente, divergente. Oggi più che mai si sente la necessità, sostenuta tra l’altro anche dalle Raccomandazioni europee del 2006, di divulgare una cultura sempre più rivolta all’inclusione, alla socializzazione, e alla condivisione di spazi, idee e stili di vita.
A partire da queste considerazioni nasce il SICILIA QUEER, l’unico festival cinematografico internazionale a tematica queer in Sicilia (nonché in una ancora più ampia area centromediterranea), che si propone attraverso il mezzo audiovisivo di promuovere il contrasto alla discriminazione sociale, di diffondere la cultura della diversità (di orientamento sessuale, di pensiero, di modi di vivere, ecc.), e una maggiore presa di coscienza dell’apporto positivo legato alle differenze.

The festival is being annually held in the city of Moscow since the year 2011 and contains 4 events:
- opening screening
- closing awards ceremony
- master-class and Q&A with movie stars
- film festival competition program screenings in cinema theatres
The Awards ceremony takes place in a big concert venue (changing every year) and consists of the show program and the ceremony of granting awards which is divided into the following jury voting categories:
- awards granted to local film distribution companies for the blockbusters screened in cinema theatres of Russia in the reported year;
- awards granted to young directors and producers as competition program. The category is called “Hope for Survival”;
- awards granted to World stars for the contribution to horror genre
The Awards ceremony is always visited and recorded by a large number of mass media.
The Master-class is a so-called Q&A horror convention held in a cinema theatre in a form of a question-answer session between the star guests of the festival and the audience + autograph session. The event usually ends with a premier film screening.
The festival program is a week non-stop screening of new movies in several Moscow cinema theatres. The films-participants of the competition program are being selected by the festival’s jury. Submissions are being analysed and accepted by the festival's organization committee during the whole year.
The festival's schedule usually also contains a pre-party and an after-party arranged for the honored guests and winners.
The TV version of the festival is televised by Tricolor TV platform.
The festival specializes in all sub-genres of horror and action film industry, i.e.: cartoon horror, comedy horror, psychological thriller, trash horror, zombie horror, giallo, slasher, suspense, detective, action, fantasy, sci-fi etc. Starting from the year 2013 the festival also specializes in survival horror video games sphere.
The festival is annually visited in person by World-known honored guests. Experimental Forum is an international performance, film and video art festival showcasing experimental film and artists’ moving image from new directors and innovative video artists from around the globe, with the third edition taking place in Los Angeles in November 2018. Our aim is to provide a supportive platform for the exciting and challenging work that is outside the scope of mainstream film festivals and art galleries.
We welcome experimental cinema pieces (abstract, narrative or documentary), video art works, essay films, artists’ moving image and media art, as well as documentary and narrative films that seek to expand, redefine or reconfigure the means and ends of their respective fields. Experimental Forum exists to provide access to, and develop audiences for, artists’ moving image work and is committed to engaging local audiences with new and/or unheard voices in film.
We are particularly interested in works made by early stage filmmakers and artists whose work is underrepresented.
